The other day I came across an online store that carries cucumber molds [1]. Apparently, cucumbers can now be sliced into cute hearts, stars, and other shapes. Seeing this new Japanese invention reminded me of the square watermelon [2], another fruit mold designed in Japan to make watermelon easier to stack and store.
While fruit molds are entertaining, I'm not sure I'd ever want pyramid mangoes or heart-shaped cantaloupes in my supermarket; the unnatural shapes would simply be too weird for me to eat! What are your thoughts?
