Today we got into a discussion in the office, half of us prefer baking (we think it's easier), while the other half prefers cooking (they think it's easier). So we thought it would be worth asking you guys, what do you think? Cooking or baking?

Baking, absolutely!
1I chose undecided as I like baking and cooking, but am better at baking and that makes me like it more, although i am getting to be a better cook so who knows!

Why don't you wear the face you have when I am not around?
I enjoy both, and I think baking a lot of things tends to be easier (I baked when I was younger) and then I started cooking and enjoying the challenge far more. Now I'm doing both when I have time, but I prefer cooking as I am partial to savory over sweet.
3BAKING!
4I think cooking is harder, but I like it more. Plus baking seems to heat up my house more and since the weather is pushing up, my baking entrees will decrease. Although I am learning to love the baked omelette.
5I'm a very precise person, so that's why I like baking more. The more precise you are (most of the time), the better the end result.
6Baking. Cooking can sometimes feel like a chore because its more of an everyday thing; baking always seems special and fun whether its for a special occasion or if you're just treating yourself.
7if i was to pick a profession between a baker and a chef then i'd probably end up as a baker bc it'll probably be easy for me. but i like to eat more savory things more than sweets. i love doing both though so i'm undecided
8I prefer cooking although I hate cleaning up after either one!
9baking definitely...i'm MUCH better at it than cooking haha
10I love baking, but only because I HATE cutting up meat/veggies! If I could have them all already cut up and just add spices/glazes/etc... I would cook a lot more!

11Baking is so old school and boring to me...That's more of an activity thing to with kids. Cooking is so much more dynamic. Plus baking usually means you're eating something sweet or fattening... With cooking, you can take healthy meals and incorporate so many different ingrediants to make it flavorful and to your liking.
12Cooking...the results are quicker. However, baking sweets makes alot of people happy.
13Baking - because I prefer to eat the result. Cooking allows a bit more creativity, but it's easier to hide a mistake than with baking.
14I love to bake...plus I love baked goods! Yummy!!
15y cant I just choose EATING?lol
16I dont do them I just eat eat eat
I love baking more than actually eating baked goods. There is something relaxing about the mixing and the assembly. I do love to cook so this is a hard call to make; I find better results with baking too since I don't cook enough.
17There's too many what ifs and variations with cooking. I prefer baking, because there seems to be more an exact science to it. I'm kinda OCD, so baking fits better with my personality. Plus, I don't cook all that well, and whatever leftovers go to waste. But, with baking, everyone always seems to enjoy whatever I make and eat if and any leftovers there are.
18Baking for sure. My husband is the cook in the family, so together we make a great team.
19I love them both!
20I choose both, though I didn't start really baking until a few months ago.
I find cooking MUCH EASIER, do people who bake with yeast really think that's an "easy" process I wonder?! I think all the measuring is harder because it seems kind of the luck of the draw whether what you spent time putting together will turn out in the end.
When you cook you can almost always modify quickly to fix or save what you're about to eat.
I think you also have to be in a certain mood, I find that if I'm relaxed and time is not an issue both cooking and baking bring about an even more relaxed state, but if I'm rushed or tired, both can feel like a chore, and I'm more apt to make mistakes.
21I can only bake bread and yorkshire pudding with any luck. I don't like strictly following a recipe. When I cook I feel like I have more freedom with ingredients and substitutes - which can back fire at times but it's still fun!
22Baking is MUCH more fun, but I Cook way more than I bake.
23ok, i said baking because the results are tastier! haha but i do both and i love both, although i do personally think that cooking costs more ingredient wise
24It depends on my mood and time of the day. But baking is more fun.
25I love cooking,... and baking makes too much of a mess for me. I'm really kinda ocd about my counter cleanliness and baking produces more visible disasters!
Plus in my house we bring home tons of leftovers from nights out and such, which are always used in later recipes that i cook. I swear i never make the same thing the same way twice. You really can't use a half eaten cake in something else to create a totally new product. But you can use that Cajun rib eye... mmmm I think i'm going to go cook now...
26Baking! I don't know why, it's just more relaxing.
27you wanna know something I don't like about baking? waiting for it to bake. it normally takes a lot longer than when you are copoking, and i get bored and dont want to wait. esp when doing cookies and you ahve to keep giong back and moving them to cokie racks and then baking more, and then moving cooled cookies to plate and warm ones to rack and dough to pan...just thinking of it makes me tired.

I cook, but I LOVE to bake! People don't like it because I think it's very technical as far as measurements go. But I think it's a fun process!
29I can't bake to save my life, and the hubby is a terrible cook. So I make dinner, he makes dessert. It's a nice arrangement.
30Baking. Its relaxing, fun, and it makes people happy! I think that baking is definitely as creative as cooking- yes, you have to be somewhat precise (very precise for some things but once you have mastered the basic techniques - lile genoise, custard, etc.. you can definitely play around. I like cooking too- esp. long, time consuming processes like braising and roasting.
31I don't do either!
32One of the things that irritate me about Rachael Ray is that she refuses to bake because she doesn't want to measure. I cook ALL THE TIME, and I still measure - although I realizing when I eyeball it (and then measure it - I'm usually pretty correct.)
I DEFINITELY don't think bread baking is easy. It's tedious and I really enjoy that challenge. Far more sitting around waiting than you do with cooking. As long as I'm always trying new things, I'm happy!
33Give it up for cooking!
34Baking! I dont think any one is harder than the other, but baking is just so fun. You get to lick the batter! And then there's the decorating.
My favorite part of cooking is making meals for other people, but thats not always possible.
35I like them both.
36I enjoy food and preparing so i can't choose.
37oh i honestly cant decide. they both go hand in hand to me, and i love em both!
38I enjoy both. But I do more cooking than baking.
