While I was on an adventure in vegetarianism recently, I had a discussion with the intelligent and dashing Mr. I'minlikewithyou about sitting at the bar in restaurants rather than at a table. I love sitting at the bar because it's much more intimate sitting shoulder to shoulder than seated with a table in between you. I like having the bartender nearby, being able to people watch, and the high chairs/stools. Also, bar seating is a great way to get a last-minute meal at a super crowded hot spot. I wondered what your opinion was, do you eat dinner at the restaurant bar?

It's usually a little too crowded for me. I need space at the table for my giant purse!
1Whenever i'm out with my dad we usually sit at the bar. Last night we went out to dinner and sat at the sushi bar. I like it a lot, it feels casual and laid back.
He's a big beer drinker (brews himself and everything) so he always likes to talk to the bar tender and see what's on special.
Also i agree with party sugar...sitting at the bar is great at busy restaurants because you can usually squeeze right in with no wait at all!
2I normally hate the high seats, limited table space, and inability to look at my partner w/o getting a crick in my neck. Also, since I quit smoking in Feb, it's really a bad area for me to be between the cravings and the smell.
3Not usually.
4I prefer tables
5I have seated et the high-top bar rounds, but not at the actually bar.

6It's also a great way to eat at the best places in town - usually bar menus are limited, which means they're cheaper!
7It may be okay at diners or at suishi bar, but I prefer tables. Not enough room, and I'm usually with someone so not great for convo.
8Don't like the limited space. And it's not too private either
9well the usual is ti take an appetizer, but take a whole dinner, just special occasion
10Yep, just did it last night actually!
Return the shoes? I can't talk to you when you're hysterical.
11sometimes, depending on how crowded.
12Sometimes. It usually depends on how crowded the place is. I don't mind it...
