I was at a New York airport recently when I came across these vending machines. Rather than vending typical fare like chips and sodas, these machines sold warmed-up hot dogs, fries, onion rings, and other prepared foods. I wasn't hungry (and I was about to miss my flight), so I didn't spring for them, but otherwise I might have. What about you — would you have given them a try?

No no no no no NEVER. That looks/sounds absolutely disgusting.
1Nope, not for me.
2Meat probably shouldn't be sitting around in a box unattended like that. What if the power went out for a day? Not sure I understand how this can even be legal.
Reminds me of the croquet in a mailbox things in Amsterdam. Only acceptable when you're completely wasted.
3That looks kind of frightening. I'm all about trying new culinary experiences, sure, but the half hour before boarding a plane is not one of them. I don't want to be in a window seat in case that food begins to have an adverse effect on my digestive system, that's for darn sure. And I don't want the aisle seat if that's also happening to the guy sitting next to me. Gross.
4I don't see how that can be "fresh". And it reminds me of teh food on EasyJet which looks great in the photos, but what you get looks like vom.
5I could only imagine the sodium and preservatives in that.
I have always wondered why they cant make vending machines that have apples, etc. in them.
I mean I guess they do have those rotating refrigeration ones that also have sandwiches and stuff...so I guess they should just expand on that.
6sadly, if i was hungry enough, i probably would, but something like onion rings, not hotdogs or whatever that lasagna looking item is or that unidentified blob to the top right
7ditto segat1
8Those exterior food photos look horrid--the actual food has got to be EVEN worse.
nope - i don't think that i could ever consider those machines. i just have this fear about food like this being in a machine and then being heated up for me to eat. i'm guessing that the foods are frozen and will be microwaved but i still don't feel comfortable with this.
which NYC airport were you at? i'm going to be at LGA today....
9Eww, I won't even eat a hot dog from a 7/11, and it makes me cringe when my husband gulps them down.
10There's one of those in the basement of the US Capitol. It looks vile, but I'm sure they get use.
11only if i was totally desperate. As in nuclear winter and i am stuck in the basement of some corporate building and all there is is these vending machines or my coworker to eat.
12I would try the onion rings or french fries. Surely they are just frozen and then microwaved in the machine (?) -- that isn't really different than the lean cuisines we eat for lunch all the time.
13Yes! Im guilty! I was starving and I had the fries. Not one of my proudest moments in life but I was about to faint. I needed something to fuel me somehow. Anything does taste good when you are starving.
14uh no thank you. there is no way that can be good.
15Any bacon wrapped hot dogs?
16I'm an adventurous girl when it comes to food, but to me, this just screams food poisoning. I think I'll pass. Actually, I'd rather starve.
17Did the Rabbi Bless the machine. Because that does not look kosher to me!
18Wow, you've got to be kidding me!! Do you think they push out any kind of smell that would actually make it appealing? I mean, when I smell a good hotdog on a street corner, I definitely get a craving for one, so maybe if these machines did that I would actually be tempted...but I just can't imagine. Even fast food sits poorly with me (not that I don't eat it!)
19I would try it only to satisfy my curiosity if it's any good. It's not like I'm going to eat from it every day...or perhaps ever again!
20dallastarzz, how did it taste?! I am dying to know!
21ilanac13, it was in Terminal 4 at JFK!
Eeek, scary! A million bucks the food doesn't come out looking like the picture
22I'm totally a sucker for things like this. I would definitely try this even though I can hear my husband's voice in the back of my head now saying that I should leave it alone because it's really bad for you.
2324/6!?!?? that's not exactly any time, anywhere.
24That's nuts! I am all for trying anything once, though warmed up fried foods are generally mediocre.
25No. I don't think I could ever bring myself to try this.
26Haha. I just showed this to my husband and said it looked disgusting... his reply? 'No way. We have those in the barracks. It's decent.'
Wow.
27If I was on the verge on starving to death, I would try the fries.
28Only if I was starving and there were no other options.
29no but then again from me that isn't exactly fair, so will kill me so if i can't find out what is in the food i don't eat it.
