We know that apples are in season, and we can even identify one variety from the next, but how do you use apples? They're delicious raw and equally tasty cooked down to butter. The versatile fruit adds crunch to salads and classically fills a pie. But I want to know: If you were given a bushel of fresh-picked apples, what would you make? I'll start off by saying I've been dying to make this apple cake! How about you? Leave your ideas or your favorite recipe below.

apple butter!
1Ohh man. Apple pie. Or a tart. Or apple cake. They're all so perfectly fall!
But I'd definitely reserve some of the apples for eating raw
2Mmm, a pie. And I'd also get a thing of caramel dip and munch on apple slices as I made the pie.
3Apple streusel cake or, because I'm feeling indulgent, my sweet and savory nachos.
4Ironically, i just picked some apples from my tree in the backyard and am planning on making apple muffins, apple cookies, and apple cake. Tis the season for apples and they have a strong tie to the history of Halloween
Making them for family, friends and my family's
coworkers.
I got this great book with nothing but apple recipes from Julian CA. So far the recipes haven't disappointed me.
5I'd make apple galettes! I have a recipe in my Veganomicon cookbook that is to die for.
6I made a Apple Spice Layer Cake with goat cheese frosting last night. mmm mmm good. I think though if i had a bushel though normally I would be with foxie and make a rustic apple gallette.
7Apple crisp!
8I made an apple crisp last weekend using a recipe I found in the Kitchen Goddess Group. It was delicious. Then yesterday I made an apple and cinnamon pouding chômeur (a Québec specialty). I posted the recipe:

I'll also probably make Twinkle's apple butter this weekend. The recipe is also in the KG group.
Æblekage, its a traditional Danish "Apple Cake" that is amazing, and nothing like traditional American apple pastries.
10Ohhh...Apples, I do love to bake with them, this year I made apple crisp and apple cake. I have since switched to pumpkin, I feel like apples are more of a September thing...Soon to be trying cranberries for November...I love themed baking....
11I've been dying to make these Apple Pecan Sticky Buns.

12MMM. I woul dmake just reg old baked apples. Slice apples, place in baking dish, sprinkle with cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg, and bake until tender!
13I made that cake a couple of weeks ago and it was delicious!! The frosting was very buttery though, wo you should make sure that you like that. Cream cheese frosting would be excellent as well!
14I have a recipe for a curry that uses apples. Mmmm, curry.
15Check out my recipe for pommes delicieuses! I can never make them as well as my friend's mom's, but it's still rather tasty.

16I just bought a peck of Macintoshes the other week at the orchard, so I made some homemade applesauce...I love making my own because I can leave out the sugar. I also made a delectable apple pie and my husband tried his hand at apple crisp (it turned out rather well for his first attempt!). I didn't have enough apples to make apple butter after making all that, but I DID also have a bunch left over to eat plain...my favorite way to eat them!
17apple pie, or this old recipe my mom made when i was a kid. cut up apples baked in faygo red pop with cinnamon. there's probably a real name for it but i've always been too busy eating it to pay attention
18For sweet, apple crisp. For savory, a nice cheese plate with one or two other fruits. YUM!
19My husband's been asking me to make an apple crisp for a long time so probably that and then I'd cook some on the stove until soft for my son cuz he loves them like that.
20well i LOVE to make apple crumbles - the kind that is just the top of the pie w/o the crust and then some streusel on the top. that's sooo good this time of year.
21Applesauce!! Its really versatile. Theres so many different kinds of applesauce you can create. Like cranberry-apple applesauce, blueberry applesauce, cinnamon applesauce, etc.
22Apple crisp is so fast and easy to make.
23I would make a crumble - too easy for words! not to mention they freeze well!
24I love apple baked goods but I keep buying Honeycrisps while they are in season and they are just too delicious plain.
25I have an apple tree in my back yard (I'm in washington, Apples are second nature to us LOL) and I love to make Apple Sauce, Apple Stew, Apple Pecan Pie, Apple Dumplings, Apple Fritters etc. My favorite though, is Apple Fudge! Yes, Apple Fudge. It's got a sweet Chocolatey/apple taste to it that is to die for!
26sometimes, when i'm craving something sweet i'll just eat a baked apple, either whole (top cut off/cored) or sliced, if i'm in a hurry or really hungry, with a bit of butter, some cinnamon and brown sugar.
i also love to snack on apples and peanut butter.
last year i made some really quick tarts with puff pasty, chopped apples in cinnamon and sugar and some toffee/skor chips.
my favourite apple is gala, but trying to reduce my co2 emissions, i'm going for my other top picks, russet and northern spye.
27Apple crisp!
28Ming Tsai has a wonderful recipe for 5-spice apples, made with granny smiths, apple juice and red onion. Sweet but savory. Like to have it with pork or at thanksgiving instead of cranberry sauce. Otherwise I make a mean dutch apple pie.
29Homemade applesauce or apple butter, apple crumble for family and friends, and also plain dehydrated apple slices to send to friends in the armed services.
