I'm a huge fan of kitchen shears. I use them to snip herbs, cut chicken into chunks, and open cheese and prosciutto packages. I find them very handy and employ them on a regular basis. When I asked YumSugar if she loved her shears as much as I love mine, she said, "I don't have them and don't get the point of them." Now I'm asking you: Do you have kitchen shears? Are they an essential tool in your kitchen or do they sit untouched in a crowded drawer?

i love them, but only for specific reasons. see i think that it's really important to have 'shears' that serve a purpose for the kitchen only rather than picking up a pair of scissors that you use for everything else. also, even though i don't eat meat or fish, or anything like that, i know that they come in handy quite a bit when you're preparing certain foods and i would much rather have my man use those than a pair of scissors that i'm going to in turn use to snip coupons or something else
1I always use them to pound out my chicken and cut them into reasonable portions
Also, they are great for trimming fat off meat, etc.
2OMG,LOVE! I can save tons on buying wholw chickens and cutting them into pieces myself, never even having to get my hands dirty-they even cut thru the bone! I will never spend almost $8 lb. for chix breats again
3shears are the easiest way to cut pizza.
4Kitchen shears are a godsend for cutting meat.
5I love mine, they're so useful!
6I got mine with my kitchen knives and they are brilliant...they come apart easily and are so easy to clean...I use them all the time.
7I spatchcock chickens with kitchen shears - just cut up the backbone on one side and then down the backbone on the other. It makes roasting chickens so much easier!
8never really knew how to use them. occasionally i'd use them to open bags but that's because i couldn't find a proper knife. perhaps i'll give them a try. my boyfriends mom just got me 2, 1 to use in the garden and the other to use in the kitchen, or so she said. . .
9I love them for snipping herbs....I have particular problems with cilantro for some reason. So much easier to cut it with scissors than try and chop it with a knife.
10Use them to trim fat off of meat, wash them to cut up herbs, wash them again and cut some flowers from the garden, wash them again and cut open annoying plastic packaging...
11I use mine now for cutting up food for my toddler.
