Tomorrow, I'll be finding several ways to celebrate being an American. Obviously, I'm hitting up PartySugar and LibertySugar's election-night bash, but beforehand I'll cash in on some free food.
Present your "I Voted" sticker at Krispy Kreme and receive a sprinkle-studded, star-shaped doughnut at no cost. For a nice breakfast pairing, head to Starbucks, tell them you voted, and you'll get a free 12-ounce cup of coffee. And for dessert, go to any Ben & Jerry's between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. to score a free scoop of ice cream.
Despite the fact that some are calling the promotions illegal, I think these freebies are a wonderful way to promote the vote. Plus, what better way to stay peeled to the results than with a delicious bargain?

Darn! I'm not voting until the evening. So sad I'm going to miss out on the free cup of Joe.
1$W%&! I voted absentee today and didn't get a sticker! *grumble*
2I live in a beautiful rural area, but I always miss out on the yummy promos! Boo hiss!LOL
3Aaa... I voted via mail-in absentee ballot so I don't have an "I Voted" sticker. I do have the tops to my ballots as proof.
4Oh the illegal thing I think is only in California.
There's an amendment in our state constitution that prohibits anyone from offering incentives to get people to vote or to get people not to vote. It's punishable by prison time and a severe fine.
It's been in the state constitution for many many years. Perhaps at least 75 years.
5Hmmm I might just have to stop on over to Starbucks tomorrow morning after I vote!
6I'm hitting up Ben and Jerry's tonight!
7To shmoo15, you don't have to have proof of voting, all you have to do is say you voted. Starbucks is using an honor system and since you are planning on voting anyways it's not completely dishonest.
8hmmm....do i want to make the drive to Mountain View for a free donut? . . . The food isn't an incentive for me. It's just a bonus after doing one's patriotic duty and voting. Dropped my ballot off this morning
9that's AWESOME! i think that i need to try a few of these to get some free grub! although the only thing that i would really go for is the s-bucks one.
10I probably won't go to any of these places, but I think it's a good idea...anything that will get people to vote, I'm for!
11This is a great way to say "thank you."
12The said part is.None of those stores are any where near me.So I couldn't get my free doughnut and a free coffee.Which sucked.Oh well
