Tahini
Typically used in Middle Eastern cooking, a thick paste made from ground sesame seeds that commonly seasons dips, sauces, spreads, and other dishes such as hummus. Its consistency is thinner than peanut butter and it can be found in health food stores and the ethnic section of most grocery stores. Tahini comes in a variety of forms from a sweetened darker version to fresh, in cans, in jars, or dehydrated.

Do you know how long it can be stored? I have a jar in my cabinet that I have had for about a year. I just bought some chickpeas and was thinking of making some hummus, but wasn't sure if my tahini was still good.
1Jen check for an expiration date. I would say get a new jar just to be on the safe side.
2Yummy.

Not a sesame fan.
4Goma paste (which is a japanese version of this) is much nicer. It is delicious in dressing.
5I LOVE tahini, whenever I get falafels I ask for extra tahini sauce. I could almost drink the stuff I love it so much. Almost.
6aw this stuff is so good i think i need to track some down
7I love Middle Eastern food. I can eat this by itself. Watch out, it is fattening (in the good way, but still).
