With the $2 billion business of decaffeinated coffee at a plateau, coffee companies are focusing their efforts on new "low-caf" blends. While decaf coffee has long been considered less flavorful, these breakthrough blends are genetically manipulated to be naturally lower in caffeine but complex in taste.
As an everyday coffee drinker, I hadn't realized that the decaf business was so lucrative, and was surprised to learn of the staggering numbers.
Clearly, there's a demand for caffeine-free coffee. Are you a committed decaf drinker? I'd love to hear your reasons in the comments below.

No, but there is some caffeine in some decaf coffee.
1What's the point???????? It's like non-alcoholic beer! If it's not going to change my mood, I don't want either
2Yes, if I really want some coffee but I have to work early the next day, I will get decaf.
3to be honest, i don't drink coffee for the caffine, so it doesn't matter to me if it's de-caf or regular. my go-to choice is always regular, but i'm just fine with decaf if that's what i can get.
4Decaf coffee is just drinking brown water IMO. Where's the kick??
5soapbox - BROWN WATER! Love it.
6No neutered joe for me!
7The only time I ever drank decaffeinated coffee on a regular basis was when I was pregnant.
8I had a decaf americano on Saturday. It was excellent! The only reason I did was because I had a few cups of coffee earlier and was still feeling pretty wired.
9i like o drink it after a meal when i go out to a restaurant...otherwise, it is all caffeine for me in the morning...or i can't wake up
10I grew up in a household of serious coffee drinkers, decaf was referred to as an "abomination"
11i love all coffee! i could drink coffee as my main liquid intake for the day, so i have to have decaf sometimes. i think i'd be dead if i didn't. -___-
12decaf tastes like a**
13Only when I'm absolutely wired and I'm STILL craving that coffee flavor! But nope, I like having my coffee with actual CAFFEINE in it
14Decaf is bad for you (due to the process of decaffination) unless its water pressed decaf. CHECK IT LADIES!
15I've heard it called "whatfor" and I think it's funny!
16Decaf? That doesn't exist in my vocabulary
17Coffee blasphemy.
18Blasphemy on the Coffee level !
Man. Decaf coffee is like.....like....
cheesecake without the cream cheese....
like Starsky with no Hutch....like deviled egges with no devil.... like Hans Solo with no Lea. ....
It. is. just. wrong.
19i'm with tidal. what's the point? i don't drink coffee for the taste.
20I might drink it at a restaurant after a meal. I drink coffee for the taste as well as the caffeine, so there are times that I want a cup but don't want it to keep me up. Of course, I never have it on hand at home, so it's rare.
21I don't drink any caffeine.
22Idrink Nescafe half-caf and really cant tell the difference between that and full caffeine.
23I do something I call half-caf - one scoop of regular, one scoop of decaf. Good stuff. I feel fine on days when I don't have it
24AS I am from the UK, do they sell half-caf in US?
25Only if I'm craving the flavors, but not too much kick.
26Before 3:00 pm = regular, hands down;
27After 3:00 pm = settling for decaf.
Penny C,
They do. It's sold under at least one big brand. I think it might be Folger's (?), but don't quote me on that.
28If I'm drinking in it in the evening, I make "half caff" coffee so it's not completely devoid of flavor. But if I'm drinking coffee in the morning, it's full-octane for me.
29Thanks fuzzles.
