Robert Irvine to Return to Dinner: Impossible

Last February, everyone was shocked to find out that Robert Irvine, the star of the Food Network show Dinner: Impossible, lied on his résumé. Although most of you said the incident didn't change your feelings about him, Irvine still got the boot from the Food Network and was subsequently replaced by Iron Chef Michael Symon.

Today I'm excited to have heard news of what I thought to be near-impossible: Irvine will be returning to host the show again. In a written statement, the Food Network announced it would shoot six new episodes with Irvine this month.

Our audience has continued to demonstrate its interest in and support for Robert . . . He has taken responsibility and made a conscious effort to clear the air, rebuild the relationship with Food Network and apologize for the earlier inaccuracies.

New episodes of the show, which challenges Irvine to prepare meals under strained situations, will debut in March 2009. I'm personally excited to hear this news, because we are big fans of Robert Irvine at my house. Do you feel the same way? Do you think that Irvine was a more compelling host than his replacement, Michael Symon?

well as much as i love michael - i think that robert did a better job. i feel like mike symon is 'too nice' or something like that and he laughs about things all the time, and that's just not the tone of the show i don't think. it'll be interesting to see robert irvine back on the network.

I like them both and am a big fan of Michael Symon on Iron Chef, but I agree for this show Irvine was the better fit. It would be nice to see Symon get some other show instead though...

Ilana, Manny, I agree with both of you. Robert is the best for D:I while Mike is good as Iron chef.

I never watched Dinner Impossible when Irvine hosted, but I have started watching once Symon was on it. I think he's hotter.

huh. i wondered why Rober Irvine wasn't doing the show anymore. I was actually pretty sad. I love him on the show. Even though he's got some character for DI, Symon should stick with Iron Chef.

That is great news. Robert Irvine just fits the show, I think. I've only seen one episode with Michael Simon, but I was turned off by his complaining and yelling at one of his helpers. Whereas Robert would build things up as challenges and eventually accept it if he couldn't get some things done, Michael seems to be more negative and came off as whiney to me.

I always thought that Robert shouldn't have been booted in the first place, and I welcome his return.

I think Robert did a WAY BETTER job at this...I tried to watch a couple episodes with Micheal and it just did not feel the same. It was like watching a totally different show. Not challenging or exciting at all... I cant wait for him to host again!

I like Robert Irvine in the Dinner: Impossible show way more than Michael Symon. Symon's creepy giggly laugh bugs me. And really, I like pork, but c'mon, it's not the only ingredient out there. Plus, Robert Irvine's biceps drive me wild!

I definitely enjoyed Irvine as host and didn't think the resume incident should have gone as far as it did. Still, Symon is good. He's just as watchable in my opinion (even if he was a lot nicer and less edgier). It seems wrong that he's getting booted but I'm sure he has other projects to focus on.

I know this shows main focus is entertainment, but it is on the FOOD NETWORK. The food that Michael Symon has turned out is far more appealing than anything Robert Irvine came up with.

I think Robert Irvine is the perfect fit for Dinner Impossible. His intro is right on the mark with the voice but no person the car everthing just worked.I can't connect with Michael and refuse to watch his show. When I see a rerun of Robert is showing I'm glued to my seat.I don't even look at Michael when he's the iron chef cooking.and I love that show. What Robert did was wrong but what was the real reason he was outed? Todays society is so judgemental but when we "tattle " it's to cause embarrassment and humiliation.Food network has had another chef embellish ther resume so they should have verified everything a person claims before even hiring someone and if we are honest we should be proud of what we have accomplished even if we wish we had done more. The truth hurts but a lie hurts more.He humiliated hiself as well as his family but I admire him for accepting responsibility and I'm so grateful Foodnetwork is giving him a second chance.Remember, love yourself and be proud of who you are and just remember you're still living so on somethings you still have time to do them.
