The discussion about whether or not soy sauce is actually soy sauce made me wonder about food labels in general and whether or not people actually read them. I'm fortunate enough not to have any major food allergies and have stupidly stopped counting calories years ago, so I rarely look at the actual labels (although I try not to buy too many processed food items, so in theory I wouldn't have that many labels to read). How about you? Do you read food labels?

I read them sometimes. I grew up in a house where none of that stuff mattered, so I'm still trying to figure out what it all means!
I read them more recently mainly because my husband and I are attempting to limit our intake of high fructose corn syrup. Which basically means we don't each much processed food. Seriously, that stuff is in everything!!!
I read them all the time. It's extremely important to know what you're putting in your body. Sometimes you think a certain snack's healthy for you because the box says "Whole Wheat or low-carb" until you look at the nutrition and ingredients.
i agree with designrchic. packaging can be very misleading, and your best bet is to do your research beforehand and know what's in the food you're eating.
Yes i do sometimes and it drives my husband loco.......
I usually do and it drives my husband crazy too!
I am food obsessed and a reader.
after weight watchers, i'm usually pretty careful.
however, sometimes if it's something i know isn't great for me, like ice cream, i don't even wanna know so i don't look! ha. that's awful.
I always do. My husband is a food nazi and high fructose corn syrup isn't allowed in the house.
I read them, while I'm on a constant quest to gain weight I'm not willing to do it by putting certain additives in my body. Ewww!
i read food labels. it's important to know that you're are getting the right amount of carb, fiber, fat, and protein. but i really need to work on not eating processed foods.
I do sometimes. If I am picking out something naughty like ice cream - I will try and at least pick the one with the less calories.
I never read food labels. But I'm like you Yum, I rarely eat processed foods and when I do I'm splurging and dont care how much fat/calories is in my potato chips or ice cream.
i'm usually looking at things like calcium, vitamin c, calories, and serving size. not really looking at the actual ingredients in the food i'm buying, as i don't know what half the stuff is anyway. lol so I guess, like some others on here, i should stop stocking up on the processed foods.
The first thing I check for is calories then go down the list of ingredients for all of the sugar products in it.
I try to watch sodium and if the list of ingredients is super long with addatives I don't get it.
Since I started exercising more and trying to eat better, I definitely read food labels. I always try to look for high fructose corn syrup, trans fat, and sugar content.
OMG OMG OMG! EVVVVVVVVERYONE NEEDS TO READ FOOD LABELS!!! seriously, packaging is misleading and if you're watching your diet you need to check the calories and fats and cholesterol and compare compare!! once you compared and figured out which produc is best for you, you don't need to read the label again!
i always feel like people who 'let themselves go' (aka moi before) never properly read a food label before buying! NOW i read them all the time! i'm always checking for MORE FIBER, lower calories and fat.
Although sometimes I prefer not to know, I always read labels. If it have more than two ingredients I cant pronounce I usually put it back.
sometimes
ALWAYS!
I would be scared if I did. I would keel over.....
If I didn't I'd probably be dead, I'm allergic to so much crap.
Yes, ALWAYS!
as a vegetarian, i always read food labels on my food and drinks. i look out for fiber, sodium, iron, protein, sugar, fat, and of course, the big c, calories.
oh yes!!
