I have something to confess: I was glad to see Danny go. With his New York accent and oddly shaved beard, the latest Top Chef contestant kicked to the curb was not my favorite. Still, I spoke with the football-loving, European-hater over the phone yesterday. To find out what he had to say about his experience, read more.
On participating in Top Chef: To make it as far as I did was such an accomplishment. It's like I was in the Super Bowl, but I didn't win.
On the losing dish and his team: During the planning stages we were all very confident. Gene was confident. It was his idea, but he failed to tell the ladies how to eat the dish. I really didn't mess with Carla's salad. It was a last component that we had actually talked about. I thought it would be a nice accompaniment to the dish I made.
On Stefan and Fabio: The Euros think that us Americans are not educated and that we are not up to speed with them. That was a trait in them that I didn't like. They are very talented and good chefs. May the best man win.
On who will win: Hosea is a very, very talented chef. He is very knowledgeable around the kitchen.
On the judges: I thought the judges were very nice. The one thing I was really disappointed about was that Tom didn't have anything nice to say about my food. Throughout the whole, Tom — I really respect him — had nothing nice to say. He had no positive compliment towards me. It's really upsetting, in a way I failed. I'm just really upset that he found negatives in all my positives.

Y'know, sometimes people keep finding negatives in all of your positives because they're not actually positives. If you read the Bravo blogs, everyone's comment this week basically highlights that had Danny been a little more willing to accept that he screwed up (ie. what he'd thought were positives were *in fact* negatives), he might have stayed.
Ever a fighter to the end...
1well in this case, the euros are smarter and more educated.
I am glad I dont have to look at that wierd beard anymore.
2Um, didn't you get reprimanded once before for posting a spoiler in the title of an article!? I haven't seen this episode yet, guess I don't need to now. *sigh*
3"well in this case, the euros are smarter and more educated."
Was that really necessary?
4Well, considering the grammar in that sentence, maybe "the Euros" are smarter...
5Wow some people are so rude.
6I'm glad he left too. His food didn't look appetizing and I found him annoying as a person.
7I'm glad to see him go too. He was just way too much for me to take on a weekly basis.
And I don't think posting a spoiler on Friday when the show airs on Wednesday is so awful. It's been a couple days now.
8I am not going to miss him either. I don't think he was either a good chef nor a nice competitor. His accent drove me crazy too. I couldn't figure out if it was a speech impediment or just a very thick NY accent. Good riddance!
9i wasn't overly upset to see him go either. i'm a new yorker so i don't mind the accent, but it's attitude and the beard that just got me. to be honest, i'm not overly wowed by anyone on the show - there are a few that have had nuggets of good dishes but oh well.
10Yeah, I was glad to see Danny go as well.
And the title is a quote, not a spoiler at all. And "reprimanded"? LOL, I thought you could post whatever you wanted ON YOUR OWN BLOG.
11AM, I am only quoting the man, so back off.
12I was definitely glad to see him go, he was trying to hard to be an entertainer...when he mentined he wanted a similar career to Bobby Flay..I was like, oh no...!
Not sure who I'm really rooting for this season, maybe Carla...I like her.
13Whaaa, whaaa.... dry your eyes and go get a shave.
14On Stefan and Fabio: The Euros think that us Americans are not educated and that we are not up to speed with them.
Correction: The Euro[pean]s think that [we] Americans are...
15lol
i am so glad that eugene didn't go home... i was so scared... i really really like him!
16Aww, I like Danny. I liked that he was always smiling. All the other chefs this season are so negative. It was nice to see one of them smile. Perhaps it's a sign of the times that happy = annoying to most people.
17I agree with not posting any spoiler, although it is two days later, I avoid Yumsugar until I have seen the episode, so I am sure it hurts readership.
It just could have been said alot nicer :0
On other note, the girl Jamie is bugging me, how she thought she should win over her other teamplayers. I wonder if she would have put herself on chopping block if her team lost, since she thought she was solely responsible...
18ferret, I was about to make the same correction!
It sounds a little strange to be ranting about being just as intelligent as the Europeans and make grammatical errors.
I mean it happens, but the context is amusing.
19sorry but i was glad to see danny go. just don't think he's of the same caliber as some of the others. radhika (sp?) is annoying, kind of wouldn't mind seeing her get the boot. she hasn't cooked anything outside of her comfort zone and just stays in the background with that deer in the headlights kind of look. doesn't seem assertive at all. sometimes i forget she is even there. was pleased to see that stefan (though i like him) was proved wrong when jeff made his tomato sorbet and the judges loved it. also enjoyed the quick fire elimination when it come down to hosea and stefan...hosea took it!
