When you purchase a pint of ice cream, you expect to receive a pint, right? Somehow the folks that pack the "hand packed pints" at Baskin Robbins didn't realize that. In an investigation of 416 pints, approximately 83% of their hand packed pints have been coming up short - with an an average of 4 oz (that's 25%!). Needless to say, savvy customers realized it and started to complain and Baskin Robbins was eventually slapped with a consumer protection lawsuit. The suit has been settled with the San Diego Attorney General and Baskin Robbins has been ordered to pay a total of $491,000 to the state. As of now, they are no longer offering the pint, but will continue to offer 12-ounce pre-packed containers.

I just realized how long it's been since I've had ice cream...shame on Baskin Robbins! I can imagine being upset over something and grabbing a pint and the remote to calm down and only finding that 75% of my ice cream is there...How's that supposed to make me feel better!
Whoa. That's crazy.
That's a lot of ice cream missing!
With how much their ice cream costs...they need to get it right!!
maybe they were just looking out for our best interests calorie-wise? unintentional portion control.
I don't care. Their ice cream is amazing!
Considering that the people packing the hand-packed pints are 16 year old high school kids making minimum wage its not surprising that the pints dont always end up right. Also, they are probably told by their managers to be very wary of overpacking or overscooping on cones etc... which could result in them being too cautious and underpacking. I worked at BR in high school and we would have to periodically weigh our scoops and we would get yelled at if it was even a fraction of an ounce over (I forget how much exactly it had to weigh)
Damn straight! Dont be cheatin me outta no ice cream!
It was probably a management directive to "underscoop" when packing the pints.
I prefer to get my ice cream from a local chain anyways. Baskin Robbin's ain't got nothing on Amy's.
That is crappy. What a way to treat customers.
Shame on them! Oh but I love Baskin Robbins ... my favorite is the one (I forgot what it's called) that's pink and has candy-cane bits inside ... *sigh* The only flavor I love more is Oxford Blue at G&D's. Now I'm craving Baskin Robbins.
i want some ice cream now.lol
Now that's just plain dirty!!! Cheating folks out of their ice cream. Tsk Tsk.
