Sarah Palin made lots of headlines this year, one of them being with her "lipstick on a pig" comment. The memorable quote begat the Palin pig sandwich, made with pork tenderloin, caramelized apples, red onions, melted cheddar cheese, and crisp bacon. It came with an unusual side of fries and lipstick.
Actually Sarah Palin's comment was "Do you know what the difference is between a soccer mom and a pitbull? Lipstick!" It made reference to the aggressive unstoppable nature of a motivated,
active mom (or any woman). The "lipstick on a pig" comment was a childish jab by Mr. Obama toward Mrs. Palin, so if anything the sandwich is really an homage to him--not her.
