I’m always tempted by my favorite kitchen store's food selection — especially during the holiday season when I see more goodies to choose from than usual. Still, in this economy, it's hard fro me to imagine shelling out a lot of money for marshmallows, cookies, or cakes when I can make many of the offerings myself. What about you?

I never buy stuff from a catalogs to beginwith.. even though I always have 5 coming in every month.
1I learned a long time ago from Swiss Colony that those pictures are a little *ahem* overstated in size. Without seeing something in person, I'm just not good at judging how much I'm actually getting for the price.
2I've never ordered food from a catalog. In general I don't order from catalogs. Everything is online these days!
3Hickory Farms every year! Those catalogs are my food porn.
4Yeah, I can make everything myself too, it might not be as pretty, but I know it's yummy and I know what's in it.
5I can't justify the shipping and handling they always charge. I can spend WAY less than that on gas and ingredients combined. So yeah, I never order any food through the mail.
6I love baking too much, it would ruin my fun to have something delivered.
7i wish that you had another option. for me, it's not one of those answers. i never buy stuff for myself, but i've ordered stuff as a gift for the holidays for someone else
i think that sometimes things like that make for nice presents when you want to send
something, but you don't want to send flowers
8No way. I can do it better myself, and fresh is always better than processed and packaged.
9But.. if you're buying it for someone else, you're still buying it.
10Am I "stealing" if I see it in the catalogue and copy it for gifts? I confess that's what I did when I saw some of the food gifts offered by Crate and Barrel and others. I about fainted when I saw their prices for peppermint bark, shortbread, and chocolate-coverd pretzels. Mine might not be as pretty as theirs, but the food is still very tasty.
11I said never but not because I can make it cheaper, but because I live in Canada, so most the places won't ship here and if they do it costs a fortune.

14Only Perfect Endings Cupcakes from Williams-Sonoma. We buy them once or twice a year; so delicious and worth every penny.
15Some stuffs from Williams Sonoma and Neiman Marcus look great and would make amazing gifts.

17I hear a ton of great things about the food from QVC.
