I have seen one of those before. I cannot imagine it works very well unless it is kinda sharp. Melon is pretty firm.
1A knife takes up much less drawer space and is probably more effective.
2Wouldn't work very well on a watermelon.

18I abide by the Alton Brown approach...keep the uni-taskers to a minimum. This wouldn't even fit in a kitchen drawer. Pass!
19I saw this one on the Food Network, along with the last What Is This item...it works, but it takes a lot of effort. It would probably break after a few uses, though.
