As part of our Best of 2008 series, you told us who was the best rising celebrity chef of the year. You love The Neelys and Curtis Stone, but your number one favorite is Next Iron Chef winner Michael Symon. We agree with you; he's our favorite at Yum.
There's more than one reason we like the Cleveland chef: He's talented yet modest; on Iron Chef America, he's got a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh; and his Greek-inspired food is always heads above the rest.
Why do you like Michael Symon?

I didn't know of him til I watched an episode of Dinner Impossible yesterday. He's soo funny and charming.
1I like him. He's a good chef but as you say modest. And he seems like a fun guy. I was hoping he would win out of The Next Iron Chef contestants and he did.
I also like Dinner Impossible more now that he's taken it over. Robert Irvine just seemed to yell and get angry a lot. Then put on a pleasant persona when actually out with the dinner guests. Glad his resume padding put him out. Seriously, I watched a episode where he competed with Guy Fieri and he lost. Not that Guy is a bad chef, but with what Robert's credentials were (at the time)...he shouldn't have lost.
2He's okay. I turn the channel whenever "Dinner Impossible" is on, so I don't know that much about him.
3I always favored John Besh to be the Next Iron Chef. As you see, he is called upon to judge at least half of the "Food Network Challenges," including winning the first seafood challenge himself. Symon is entertaining, but you can tell his audience appeal is lacking when he is being pulled from Dinner Impossible after only one season, and replaced by guess who ? Robert Irvine AGAIN ???!!!
4Gasp !!!
Michael Symon has that stupid laugh, but it's totally worth watching him just to hear it!
5well he was one of my favs during the show so it's nice that people really are warming up to him more and more. i hope that he gets another show now that robert irvine is coming back to DI
