Cheese is one of my favorite foods. I've honestly never met a cheese I didn't like! So when I received one of Président's new brie logs, I couldn't wait to give it a try. The brie log could be likened to the mildest of brie cheeses in flavor; there was little, if any, sharpness. The cheese — described by its makers as "deliciously buttery . . . with subtle mushroom flavors" — tasted exactly like the brand's popular brie wedge. It did, however, have certain differences; to learn what two characteristics set this cheese apart from the rest, read more.
First, the brie's shape is convenient for cutting and placing on top of crackers; the log formation guarantees an equal, mess-free slice every time. Second, and perhaps more important, the cheese's rind is noticeably thinner, making it more pleasant to eat. While both PartySugar and I typically don't eat the rind on brie, we found the rind on this cheese to be tolerable, as it didn't take away the overall creaminess and flavor of the cheese.
At first, I didn't think this brie was anything special, but in the end, I was pleasantly surprised by its consistent texture, mild flavor, and extremely convenient packaging. Next time I go on a picnic with crackers, I'll definitely be picking up one of these.
Have you tried the Président Brie Log? If so, what did you think of it?

yum! I love brie but hate the rind. I can't wait to find this at the shops.
1ooh i tried this (trader joes carries it!) and LOVED it! need to go pick some more up
2bet this would work great with any cover and pop in the oven recipes....
3here's my question - for a person who doesn't usually care for brie - do you think that this would be an ok alternative to the typical one? i feel like the comments that you made about the flavor mean that i might like it more - although i typically like sharp cheeses. i just don't know.
i was half expecting a bad review of this since it just doesn't look the most appetizing to me - but it's good that i'm wrong.
4I normally buy "Le petit Roitelet", which I think is pretty much the same thing. And I always eat the rind, unless it's very, very thick.
5I must be an odd man out as I love the rind on soft cheeses. I saw this at the store and just didn't feel good about it. Sounds like my gut feeling was wrong and I will purchase this the next time we are entertaining. It did seem like a clever idea for serving on crackers.
6I tried these with pear preserves, walnuts and crackers. They were wonderful... this Brie is great, especially if you're introducing someone to brie for the first time.
(They're even better when our local store has them on 'buy one, get one free' sales.
)
7One of my friends brought this over a few weeks ago and it was very delicious!
8I have not seen this but since I eat brie all the time (literally almost every day) I will have to look for this. I also hate the rind so I expect this to be yummy.
9Macgirl I'm like you, I like the rind and eat it. I saw this today and because it looked virtually rind-less I figured the taste would be off and passed it up in favour of regular double cream brie. At some point I think I'll pick it up -- it'll be a great choice for our drive-in movie nights in the summer!
10I love brie and am always looking for an easier way to eat it! might have to try this!! Yummm
11...looks like a banana. O_o
12This cheese is what I like to call budget Brie. I bought it when I was in college to save money over the pricier imported or gourmet domestic Bries in the cheese shop. It was fine then as a brokedown student, but when I tasted it again recently, it just didn't compare. It's kinda like comparing margarine to butter.
13Wow, I hope it'll be available in RP soon, too.
