On New Year's Day, out at brunch, I ordered poached eggs — extra runny. My friend asked for fried eggs, over hard. They messed up our orders: I got the hard eggs and he got the runny eggs. We were both incredibly disappointed, but when he saw the egg ooze golden yolk all over his plate, he totally gagged! He finds runny eggs disgusting, but I happen to love them. Where do you stand?

I'm really weird when it comes to certain foods and eggs are one of them. I only eat eggs hardboiled. And I'll eat them fried if I order fried rice and eggs are cooked in it, but usually I just pick them out.
1I with your friend, I would have gagged at the sight of runny eggs. My friend eats it her eggs runny and I can't even look at her when we get breakfast together.
2As long as I have toast or something to sop up the yolk, I like runny eggs.
3Only when they're on a fried egg sandwich.
4Cook it entirely with no yolk please!
5I loooove runny eggs. Especially with sourdough toast. Yum!
6Other. I like them, but I don't love them. And not too runny please. If I find some egg white that is not cooked really well I won't eat it.
7I love runny eggs (it makes my boyfriend gag though and he won't kiss me because "yo taste like eggs"). I love them with toast to mop up all the golden deliciousness. I'm hungry just thinking about it. They are really good in sammies too! No need for mayo or any dressing, just let the yolks ooze into it!
Oh, and to Krradford, I hope you don't abstain from the yolks because of "health" reasons because they are actually really good for you and the fats in yolks are what help you properly absorb the protein in the whites. But if you don't eat them because of taste then that's your prerogative.
I prefer my eggs over easy (extra runny) from pastured hens. The eggs are healthier and they have an amazing bright orange yolk!
8i'm not really a fan of 'runny eggs' to be honest. there was a period of time that i would order poached eggs, but if they were too runny then it's not like i could really enjoy the flavor...the plate got more than i did. i like things to be a bit more firm and cooked if i'm going to have eggs.
9Sunny side up ... wohoooo. I love mine on top of corned beef hash and a side of wheat toast for dipping.
10Oy eggs gross me out. My parents scream when we make an omelette, they get their runny slice then I overcook mine. Runny makes me gag. I can't even crack eggs for a recipe without having to wash my hands in between each of them.
11That's too vague a description of runny for me. I love my eggs over-easy, and I love to spread the runny yolk on my toast.
However, if the white of the egg is runny... ugh. It makes me gag. It's just so gross!
But I don't like hard-boiled eggs either. I like well-made eggs.
12Love, love, love runny eggs! I'm so upset if I go out to brunch and get an over-cooked poached egg.
I think if I were you and your friend, I would have sent the dishes back. Especially if he dislikes runny eggs so much that it makes him gag.
13Why did you not just switch plates?
14haha, looks pretty 50/50! Personally I hate runny eggs though. I would gag too. I can't touch runny eggs at all!
15cooked completely. I actually prefer no yolk at all.
16Runny eggs over slightly burnt whole wheat or rye toast.
17Eggs HAVE to be runny, otherwise they don't mix properly with the Tabasco to be absorbed by toast! Obvi!
18Oh i love runny eggs... in fact I like a raw egg on top of a bowl of rice with a touch of soy sauce (though I rarely have it because of fears of salmonella)
19It depends. I like the yolk runny if the yolk isn't broken - like sunny-side-up or over-easy. But I'm not a fan of runny or soft scrambled eggs.
20Blech, just the picture is making me gaggy.
21As of 11:50 am, it's an even split. Interesting...
22I don't usually eat the yolks, just fried egg whites. When I was a kid, I'd order eggs like my Grandpa, over easy. Then I'd cut around the yolks. He told me to order them over hard, and that's the only way I'll eat fried whole eggs!
23I prefer scrambled.
24i don't eat eggs and that picture makes me want to hurl. eew.
25...with some toasted sourdough? OH YES. (will probably be having some tonight now!)
26I like my eggs over medium when I want to dunk my toast in them, SO good. BUT I *hate* when scrambled eggs are still too runny...or if I'm eating a fried egg and any part of the egg white is still goopy...gross. However, I seem to have no issue with it when I'm sneaking cookie or brownie batter
haha
27Smacks83, I don't eat yolks for both reasons and b/c I don't like the smell of a an egg cooked with yolk. Yes, I know I am a finicky eater.
28No way. I like scrambled mostly anyway. And I like both of them with only pepper and seasoning salt.
29Poached eggs must be completely runny...nothing worse than half-congealed yolk - bleah. I don't really eat fried eggs because I don't like the whites fried, but if I did, I'd probably eat them over-easy like the rest of the family. I love soft scrambled eggs, so good on toast!
30Yeah, i find yolk running all over the place to be pretty disgusting, but I'm not a fan of chalky, hard-boiled yolks - I like my eggs scrambled, in an omelet, or if the yolk needs to be intact, I'd like for it to be set, but not hardened, sort of like jello. Honestly, I'd probably be pretty happy with nothing but egg whites. But I've been told that I have weird tastes.
31Haha, I am just sitting down to a lunch of a runny poached egg as I opened up yum sugar and found this post.I find cooked yolks disgusting. I like my eggs just cooked enough so that the whites aren't runny or are just cooked.

32i agree with yecca651!
33A hard yolk....might as well have your egg hard boiled. Sunny and runny for me.
34I love runny yolks! Nothing like dipping a nice piece of buttered toast in the yolks at breakfast.
35Runny with toast. Mmm.
36over medium. I hate when there is that film on undercooked eggs.
37I didn't know how to reply. I agree with you that the yolk is ruined if it isn't runny. But uncooked egg white puts me right where your friend is.
38Is it safe to eat them runny?
39Writing this made me want runny eggs!
40yeah, i have some serious issues with eggs. runny eggs make me make me want to vomit, i wish i only gagged. flan and panna cotta have to be made correct...smooth and not too eggy. just this morning on the rachel ray show they had dr. phil's wife talking about an egg yolk face mask and was dipping her fingers into a bowl of scrambled yolks pulling them out to show the consistency of them. sorry, no way in hell i'm trying that beauty tip!
41I love runny eggs, when the yolk gets hard it tastes....weird and strong...i love to dip my toast in it or whatever starch i'm having. but of course, the whites should be fully cooked
42Ugh, the texture of fully cooked egg yolks is gross to me. They are chalky and weird. But I also can't stand runny eggs. My grandpa used to LOVE fried eggs with very runny yolks and he'd dip his toast into the yolks. It always grossed me out as a kid. When I eat eggs, I only like them scrambled and fully cooked, but not OVERdone.
43Isn't "sopping" what the "Nooks and Crannies" in an english muffin are for ?!
44mm, not into runny eggs.
45Ooh...me luvs runny eggs! I've recently began eating runny eggs (over easy) on top of steamed rice, sprinkled w/ a bit of hot sauce. Duh-lish! However, once in a while, I like them well done, scrambled and fluffy. Bottom line: I just love eggs.
46I love eggs...from my head down to my legs....
My taste for eggs has evolved a lot over the years. I used to HATE any kind of eggs except scrambled (even then I'd cook them so long they'd taste like rubber so I gave up). My dad makes perfect scrambled eggs. No one has ever been able to live up to his eggs.
UNTIL...I visited a friend for two weeks and his specialty was a fried, over medium egg, with bacon and cheese on an english muffin. The yolk was runny, but the white was completely cooked.
I discovered I actually loved the runny yolk, and sopped it up. YUMMY.
So now...I order my eggs over medium, with either sourdough toast or an english muffin. The only place I eat scrambled is at my parents.
47Oh I forgot to say, I only like runny yolk, no runny white for me!
At least, not yet.
48Over medium. The white has to be cooked all the way!! No runniness in the white but I love the yolk runny.
49Yes, I love them!!! Overeasy is my favorite way to eat eggs, and I love poached eggs too.
