Actually, I prefer to watch the British Kitchen Nightmares then the American. The American one is "too" Fox. The Brit one always ends with him going back to the restaurant to see how they're
doing and, if they deserve it, heaping on the praise to counteract all the criticism from the beginning. The Fox one is just meaner, more melodramatic, sillier. Hate it, actually...and
nothing on earth would make me watch Hell's Kitchen. And I LOVE Gordon Ramsay. Luckily, in Canada, we're currently getting his old show "The F Word" on The Food Network. Much more fun...he
even competes with his mother to see who makes a better pudding!
I enjoy Kitchen Nightmare, although I watch both. I really don't understand why Hell's Kitchen can't get quality chefs....I mean...you would assume they would be at least close to the caliber
of those chefs on Top Chef...but it feels like these are not even close to that mark. Disappointing.
I prefer Kitchen Nightmare's because I find it fascinating that these so-called "business people" invite Gordon to their failing restaurant then pretend that there is nothing wrong and they
fight him on every suggestion that he makes to improve their business and get them out of debt.
I find it hilarious when at the end they are teary eyed and thanking Gordon for making them see the light and they swear they do things the right way/ Gordon's proven way and then Gordon goes
back only to find that 50% of the restaurants are in the crapper again because the egotistical business owner ignored Gordon's advice and went back to their failing business model.
I've noticed that the restaurants that actually follow his advice to the T - continue to improve and succeed while the other close within a year with serious debt.
Kitchen Nightmares by far, though like the rest, I prefer the British version to the American version. The British version concentrates on the restaurant more and less on the melodrama of the
owners/staff, which I'm sure the producers encourage to act up.
Hell's Kitchen is a huge three ring circus. You can't take any of the contestants seriously, like with Top Chef. At the very least, you can easily turn the show into a drinking game. A sip
for the announcer saying "for the first time ever...", Gordon exclaiming "it's raw!" or "you donkeys" or "dog's dinner", someone crying, a diner sending something back, the risotta being
over/undercooked... A drink for one of the dinner "guests" walking up to the counter. A guzzle for one of Gordon's genuine heart-to-heart moments in the kitchen...
I love the British version of Kitchen Nightmares and find the American version so annoying that I can't even watch it. I love that Gordon Ramsey narrates the BBC version (he is hilarious!)
British version of Nightmares, definitely! The US version is just too annoying and fake. HK is too "dramatic" and overacted for me to take seriously, but it makes for interesting
entertainment. Does Mr. Ramsay ever relax?! He is just too intense...the fellow is going to have a stroke one of these days.
I have a hard time watching Kitchen Nightmares, because a lot of the time I get grossed out! Seeing how some of those restaurants keep their kitchens....bleah.
i love both shows but i would rather watch Hells Kitchen. there's something to be said about the whole challenge in cooking thing, rather than seeing gordon try to change something that
doesn't want to be changed.
I enjoy both. He teaches chefs to become Real Chefs on Hell's Kitchen.(you can actually see the growth process) and with Kitchen Nightmares you can see owner's and chef owner's of restaurants
who are loosing money, listen to him and turn their restaurants around. I tried his banana bread recipe. I added black walnut to mine I made two loaves. they were gone in an hour.
