I was reading the comments about the new Starbucks campaign and was surprised to see that many of you don't care too much for the coffee giant. Both PartySugar and I are enthusiastic fans of Starbucks and can't imagine hating the chain. I've always found the drinks to be relatively consistent, and the atmosphere provides a reassuring familiarity no matter which store you're in. What about you: Are you a fan of Starbucks? What do you like or dislike about it?

I love the flavor of Starbucks coffee.
1Starbucks is okay but I prefer Second Cup (Canadian franchise).
2I love to go to Starbucks for a treat. I know the staff and they are so nice. The one we have in town isn't hurting right now, they have a loyal fan base. I do feel bad for some of the local coffee places that opened after Starbucks was closed (due to a grocery store closing) a few years back. Unfortunately for me I'm pregnant and coffee does loops in my tummy so I can't have any!!
3Every once in a while. Usually when I'm visiting my sister... she's addicted to Starbucks. That's pretty much the only time I'm in one!
4I heart Dunkin'Donuts !!!
5Very Very rarely, I'll get a iced caramel latte but apart from that just not a big coffee fan.
6I prefer Dunkin Donuts, but there are two starbucks right near my office. It depends on how much time I have for a "coffee break".
7I go to Starbucks rarely. I much prefer Peets.
8i don't go, because i don't like cofee
9i stopped drinking caffeinated products when i quit my job at starbucks two years ago. i had a week of headaches and then no noticable lack of energy afterwards. yeah no coffee!
10I usually go if I have a gift card or if it's really cold outside and I feel like treating myself. It can get expensive to drink there every day!
11I love Starbucks coffee and that they will make any coffee drink they way you want it.
12To me it doesn't matter where my double short cap is from. I usually go to the store that is closest be it Starbucks, Peets, Tully's or my local cafe, Murano.
13If you want fantastic coffee try Illy's...best you will EVER have. Starbucks is crap... I don't drink it... sure as heck not going to pay for it either!
14I drink tea and try to go to local tea houses when I am in the mood.
15Starbucks coffee TASTES TERRIBLE!
I'm amazed that so many people seem to care so little about the taste of their coffee.
16I am not a fan of them at all. I like to have what I want in the flavor that I want and their selections leave much to be desired. God forbid you ask for a flavor they do have but in a mocha instead of latte. They act like they have no idea what you're asking for. Starbucks needs to go back to basics.
17Starbucks is ok but not my favorite. Truthfully I usually go to wherever is closest. I would have to say my favorite is Seattles Best (owned by Starbucks I know). SBC has nice strong Seattle style coffee, however its not burnt or bitter tasting like Starbucks tends to be.
18When the first Starbucks franchises came to San Diego, CA, one was in the plaza of the bank building where I worked. I learned a great deal about coffee from them, back when their product quality was excellent and before it became a status item. Unfortunately, Starbucks' quality has dropped through the floor, IMHO. After more than 2 decades of being a loyal consumer, I have changed my loyalty. I don't splurge on "big name" coffee as often as in the past, and after moving to a small town, I found out that I can survive without it if I must.
That said, my absolute favorite franchise brand is Seattle's Best. My family in Los Angeles
introduced me to it, and am I ever glad they did.
19I noticed that you skipped the option for preferring independent coffee shops - and that's a serious omission. Given the choice between supporting a big chain, or supporting a local business that puts down the expense to get fair trade, I always choose the local.
20I admit I'm a fan of their espresso drinks but I really hate the ambience. It's so cold and uncomfortable--the exact opposite of what coffee shops should be. I'm sad that here in New York the comfy coffee shops are few and far between.
21I love SB's Hot cider on a cold day. I loved the pastries...now with less sugar and butter, not so much. I'll get a quick sandwich if I'm downtown.
22I used to, then I discovered smaller coffee shops with better drinks. But now I work at a store that has a cafe which serves some SBUX items and I get a discount. I find myself having more than I like.
23PS: I don't like "coffee surprise"...100% Arabica black coffee every day for me.
24Oh i love COSTA coffee its TO DIEEE FOR
25and the MOCHA AHHHHHH! amazzzzing !
i dont feel like eating after drinking it
i remember 1st time i got hocked on it i lost 3 KG !!
I do go to Starbucks about once or twice a week. When I lived in Denver they were everywhere -- and one was right in my office building! I find it comforting and familiar to go to Starbucks now that I live back east. They're all the same, and it's nice to know what you're getting.
26I just recently went into a Starbucks for the first time, my husband wanted an iced coffee. I don't drink coffee so I got myself a hot chocolate. Grossest hot chocolate ever! How can you screw up hot chocolate? I ended up taking three sips, thinking it would taste better, and pouring it out. The atmosphere inside the Starbucks was nice, all those people talking, but I'll never set foot inside one again, my husband can get his own iced coffees!
27I made it a point to boycott Starbucks this year actually. It is way too overpriced for the quality, and mostly I'm upset that it took over MANY Gloria Jean coffee stores I know of which have been my favorite for fancy drinks. & for regular coffee, Dunkin' is on top!
28Edie...try 'cafe pick me up' on the lower east side. It is sooo cozy!
29I second what magickal says... indy shops all the way! There are three by my house and one by my work, so I never lack a place to get a coffee fix. My preference for which shop seems to change depending on where I'm going after the coffee stop, so all three get some love.
30i am a starbucks coffee drinker - and the problem that i'm scared about now is that my office is moving buildings and tomorrow is our first day in the new office and there's no longer going to be an sbucks in our building. i don't know what i'm going to do now. i know of one a couple blocks away but the best part of my morning was not having to go out of the way to get my tea (i'm a green tea drinker).
31as for coffee - i much prefer their iced coffee over DD's since it's stronger and i LOVE my strong coffee
I get Starbucks maybe once a week. I prefer Peet's or Seattle's Best, but they're not as easy to get to on my way to school. There's a Starbucks across the street from my high school. The only thing I get there is a non-fat, decaf vanilla latte . . . my favorite treat drink from Peet's is a non-fat decaf Peppermint Mocha. Mmmmm! I get that MAYBE once a month, probably once every couple of months. Generally I brew my own coffee or make my own tea at home and take it to school with me.
32I rarely purchase coffee beverages. I'm more into tea beverages.
33I love the taste of coffee, and go to Starbucks when I want to treat myself. I have not had a lot of luck with local coffee shops, and have found them to not be that much cheaper. I also think the quality of Starbucks depend on the people making the drink. I alternate between 2 of their drinks, and it's almost always delicious, but sometimes bad depending on the store.
34Starbucks coffee is NASTY. It tastes burnt and bitter.
35I probably go there a few times a year...in the summer...for a Frapp.
I rarely drink Starbucks.
36I still refuse to go to Starbucks or buy any of their products because of their "Fair trade" brand products and the fact that the tried to defraud and cheat Ethiopian Coffee Farmers out of their products. I am a member of OxFam so we were getting these constant updates on the international court case and the domestic curt case and Starbucks underhanded practices toward "fair trade" farmers. Even though Starbucks backed off the lawsuits preventing the farmers from collecting their fair pay and they stopped trying to trademark the Ethiopian brands of coffee beans as their own, I still will not go there.
I go to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. They truly are "fair trade" practitioners and they are kosher to boot. Plus they have a huge truly sugar free product selection.
37For years I thought I didn't like coffee because of Starbucks, I now work at an independent coffee shop, and have been to several others and have discovered how good espressos actually are.
38I get why so many people go there for convenience, I just don't see how they can drink espresso based drinks when the espresso tastes so bad, but I also understand why they rely mostly on their highly flavoured drinks.
Mind you, I also think Timmies coffee is horrible, but at least it's cheap.
39I usually brew my own at home too. My homebrewed coffee is just as good, or even better, than Starbucks. There are 3 independent, small-business coffee shops in my town and they all serve delicious, reasonably priced coffee, especially if you just want drip or French pressed, so they receive my patronage when I am in town and crave coffee.
40every once in a while i'll stop. but i usually jazz up my own coffee here at home! cheaper and taste (almost) just as good! LOL
41there's a starbucks in my work building... and it's addictive. I almost never get a coffee, though. I love their soy chai!
42I never go to chains...its easy in New Orleans seriously there are only like 2 starbucks in the uptown area its amazing. Starbucks just does not taste good. I love my local PJ's or Community Coffee (CC's)!!
43Oh pinky! I'm so jealous. I just moved from my home N.O. and no more PJs or CCs!
YUM! Now,
that's good coffee!
44Only on the weekends...I think they're overpriced, but I love the strong flavor of their coffee.
45I can't stand Starbucks. Their coffee is nasty and overpriced, plus their "fair-trade" coffee really isn't. I like to make my own coffee at home using actual fair-trade beans and I grind them myself so it doesn't taste like dirt and doesn't have so much caffeine in it that it makes my stomach hurt.
46i hate coffee drinks so im usually limited to a vanilla bean. they need more non-coffee options!
47Love it, but I buy it from the grocery store, grind it and brew it at home...
48For my regular cup of black coffee in the morning, I'd rather brew my own at home. But I'll stop by Starbucks for a soy vanilla latte every once in a while. Starbucks is the only real coffee house in my town, but when I'm at my boyfriend's place, I love this place called Istria Cafe. It's in Hyde Park in Chicago and it's delicious. Best lattes & americanos I've ever had.
49I take my coffee black, so I usually make my own. If I'm out and about, I like Burger King's coffee because it has a bit of a chocolate flavor to it. Yum yum!
