The inauguration may be behind us, but we're only beginning to get to know President Barack Obama's discerning palate.
In this clip from a National Geographic Channel series titled On Board Air Force One, the then-president-elect rides aboard the presidential plane for the very first time. Dinner is served on the plane, and the nation's leader barely takes a glance at the menu before proclaiming, "I'll see how you guys do a burger."

As it turns out, President Obama orders his burger medium well, with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and dijon mustard as the star condiment. The famously health-conscious president requests a salad on the side, but adds, "I'll still take the fries."
Obama's burger preferences are acceptable — with the exception of the medium well part. I'm a little disappointed the president doesn't like his meat a little more rare (it's juicier that way, in my opinion).

1a burger is a burger - so i suppose it's all well and good.
2In Canada, people are advised to make sure their burgers are well-done to avoid e coli. Isn't this also a problem in the States?

5I always ask for well done b/c then it usually comes back to me medium rare. If I asked for medium rare, then it would come back rare. Oh restaurants that I've been to. I don't like a lot of pink in my meat.

7i find, if you order anything "well", it comes back burned and inedible. if you order something "medium well", it sometimes comes back medium, but usually well done.
i prefer my burgers "medium well", meaning "well".
(and yes, we have the same problem with e.coli in the states. it IS advised that your cook your burgers well, and i believe all fast food chains are required to(?). just because it's advised, though, doesn't mean people do it.)
as for obama, i feel like EVERYTHING he does from here on out will make the news.

16Yum, I am with you--- I love a burger medium or medium rare...depending on the restaurant. I would rather eat a rare burger then a well-done one if that tells you anything
17@LaurenG22 -- same here. If the burger is made from straight-up ground beef, I'll order it medium. But if I know the beef is coming from a high-end cut, I'll order it medium rare.
18I think he should of just had veggies and no meat. I agree he should of had it very well done if he had to have the burger.
19after learning about infectious diseases, i highly recommend all ground meat be prepared well done! but i totally take my steak rare
