Actress Gwyneth Paltrow's career may be headed away from the silver screen. The movie star is set to pen her first book, a cookbook, to be published in 2010.
Publishers Janklow & Nesbit have described the cookbook, entitled My Father's Daughter, as one that "focuses on the importance of togetherness at mealtime, emphasizing that cooking for your family is the ultimate expression of love."
In her tome, the movie star will undoubtedly pay homage to her late father, Bruce Paltrow. Last year, she told Us magazine that she was experimenting with favorite family recipes.
"My dad was an insane pancake maker," she said. "I'm just working on a recipe right now. I'm adapting it to make mine slightly more healthy."
Paltrow abandoned her famously stringent macrobiotic diet when pregnant with daughter Apple, and admitted that she "couldn't look at brown rice. It made me throw up." Last year, the actress starred in a documentary series, Spain . . . On the Road Again, with celebrity chef Mario Batali, and the two traveled the Iberian Peninsula, sampling regional Spanish cuisine. Around the same time, the actress also launched an online lifestyle newsletter, entitled Goop, which includes seasonal recipes and the star's favorite places to dine.
What do you think of the news? Would you pick up a copy of My Father's Daughter to try out some of the actress's original recipes?

No, I won't be picking this up, because when has there been any evidence that Gwyneth knows anything about food besides how to abstain from it and resign herself to macrobiotic hell?
1Never!
Perhaps it will also include her detox recipes. Sounds delicious!
2No, I prefer to buy cookbooks written by people who actually, ya know, EAT.
3I've watched one episode from "Spain - on the road again". I was pleasantly surprised and how much she ate and with much gusto...well, that WAS good eats indeed so maybe even Gwyneth can't resist it
4Sorry guys, "...and" = at.
I wish Comment window would have an edit button!
5I agree with Spectra - and I've read excerpts of Goop and I find her incredibly pretentious. I also saw "on the road again" and she was terrible. She would hardly touch anything and just came off as snotty. Bittman and Claudia were the best part of the show - I hope they do another series with just those two. I loved Claudia's obsession with ham.
6I really didn't think she ate that much on the show - the episodes I watched - she was disgusted by the idea of eating meat, which is fine in general but I think when doing a travel/eating show in Spain (AKA land of delicious cured meat products) - eat as the Spaniards eat. That is the point right?
7I'll be honest, I might actually flip through the book to see what kind of recipes are in there, maybe her dad had some cool recipe ideas? But the likelihood of me buying it is... not.
8Well if Jessica Simpson is a shoe designer, why can't Gywneth be a cookbook author? I don't see anything wrong with this and I love GOOP!
9Jessica Simpson is not a show designer - She is Brand, a bad one at that. Christian Louboutin is a shoe designer. Gwyneth can do what ever she wants, I will not be purchasing her book.
10I might consider it. I have some macrobiotic cookbooks and I'm always interested in more Macro recipes. So if I look at her book and its got some good Macro recipes that I have seen before then I'd pick it up.
Buying her book still wouldn't make me pay to see her movies. HA HA!
11I will buy her book! I love her, I love GOOP, and a cookbook from her point of view will only enhance the collection I already have!
12I think her book should be regarded mainly as a tribute to her father. The title says it all; it is really touching to me and I can totally relate, having lost my father recently like her.
13LOL @tlsgirl! I love Gwyneth... but I definitely have to agree.
