It seems like in every episode of 30 Minute Meals that I watch, Rachael Ray makes a comment about how she "always burns" things in the broiler. Although I've never actually seen her burn an item, she does seem like the type of person who could be prone to burning. I'm usually pretty good about not burning bread or bacon, but recently, when I made sloppy Joe's, I totally forgot about the buns! How about you? When was the last time you burned something? Is there one item you are more likely to burn than others?

I just burned the bottom of my meatballs. Next time I'll put them on parchment paper and reduce the cooking time.
Very rarely if it at all...
Biscuits, they sometimes get a little too golden brown (read:burnt) on the bottoms
i don't usually burn things. i'm one of those cooks that over watches things so i'm always pulling them out maybe when they should cook a bit longer and then pay too much attention for a few more minutes.
how is someone "prone to burning things"?
I always burn toast/bread since I don't have a toaster. I have an old oven so the broiler is really close to the food.
Anything involving use of the broiler is just asking for me to "toast it to well-done perfection" (translation: charcoal). LOL
When I first started cooking, heh... all the time. Now very rarely.
Only when I'm not paying attention, or the cooking/baking time needed to be adjusted.
I am prone to burn things as I am a distracted chef. During my big family reunion I put in some enchiladas to crisp up the cheese on the top and forgot they were in there. Burnt the cheese and was devastated. My husband the quick thinker pulled off the burnt cheese, threw on some fresh stuff and put it back in. Then I had people requesting the burnt cheese, it was a little odd.
I do! I like my food to be *well* cooked, so I tend to cook it one minute more rather than less. And then I forget and the "minute more" turns into "four more minutes".
I hardly ever do...however it's funny that this question comes today. Just last night I made some croutons and forgot about them....burned the bottoms of them really badly, and set off the smoke detectors...it was kind of embarrasing!
Before that though, I really can't remember the last time I burned something
Toast when I put it back in for a second time.
My nose is too keen - I know when stuff is done because I start smelling it so even if there is time left I know to check and probably remove from the oven/stove.
my burned ratio has increased since the addition of a baby in my life. i get distracted easily
about once a month...haha.
i'm domestically challenged!
I hadn't burned anything lately, but funny timing I JUST burned my toast to a crisp-oops!
I tend to forget about things in the broiler, and I burn garlic bread at least every third time that I make it.
Haha, never!
The more I cook the more I burn, haha. I like things a bit more crispy and slightly burnt and my husband hates things like that so I usually take half the stuff out early and then forget about my part and end up burning them. Just can't learn to not burn ...haha.
Yep, once I had my daughter, I became totally distracted and can't do a single task to completion at one time! I'll start something on the stove, and then she'll start fussing, and then that turns into entertaining her, which turns into playing ... hey, what's that smell? Oh crap, it's (fill in the blank - whatever I was making for dinner) and it's burning! I do that about once a month now.
I burn my toast so often I just blame the toaster now. Also my brother is a firm believer that I either burn food or undercook it and will never be able to make something to perfection.
I burn things on occasion..but not TOO often.
I burn my toast on purpose. It's better tasting a bit charred.
I voted "I never burn things" this morning... lo and behold I burn my muffins. Wow. Hahahaha.
I burn popcorn all the time! booooo
i burn milk daily !
Can't seem to get the timing down of a good grilled cheese sandwich, I keep burning the bread to get to a point where the cheese is melty...
I don't burn things TOO often, but every once in a while when I use a pot with a thin bottom, I'll burn stuff on the bottom of it. I'm actually more prone to UNDERbaking things because I tend to be a little bit impatient in the kitchen.
I haven't burned anything in a while.
It's between 2/year and 1/month for me. I don't tend to burn things if I'm just actually cooking. But sometimes, I'm in a rush so I multitask cooking with other things. That occasionally turns out badly.
LOL I was just toasting some bread the other day and I totally forgot about it and then when I went to the kitchen to check on it, the bread was all black and started to smoke. I hella had to crack open the sliding doors and windows before the alarm went off and my dad wondering wtf is going on at 1 in the morning!
