Most of us hoped to start 2009 on a positive note, but Burger King was seemingly in a furious state of mind: At the beginning of January, the fast food chain introduced the Angry Whopper to its US menus. News of the limited-edition burger, purportedly only available through the end of March, took the Internet by storm. So after hearing the incessant hype surrounding it, I decided to put the burger to the test. To find out how it tastes and see additional photos, read more.
For the suggested retail price of $3.69, the Angry Whopper features everything that's on the joint's original Whopper (flame-broiled patty, lettuce, tomatoes, sesame bun) — as well as "sizzling angry onions," jalapenos, a slice of pepper-jack cheese, bacon, and "angry sauce." Others have proclaimed that the Angry Whopper isn't spicy enough, and while I have to agree that it doesn't really live up to its notorious moniker, it's pretty darn delicious.
The jalapenos provide the only real spice kick, while the "angry sauce" and jack give a nice element of creaminess. Add sizzling onions (really glorified onion rings) for crunch, a few slices of bacon (who can say no to bacon?), and you've got a winning burger — one that I would choose any day over its original counterpart. I had grand lunch plans ahead of me, so I only meant to take a bite or two of the burger, but I admittedly had at least a third of it.
Continuing its strategy of controversial food marketing, Burger King also launched a humorous website in conjunction with the release of the Angry Whopper. It features — you guessed it — an angry Whopper that fans can employ to rebuke annoying friends. The talking burger isn't the only thing that's salty: so is the Angry Whopper itself, with 880 calories and a whopping (pardon the pun) 1670 milligrams of sodium. Does the Angry Whopper sound like something that you would try? If you've tasted it, what did you think?

Adidas
I am not planning on having it. Just not interested at all...
1It looks surprisingly fresh and delicious in your photos! I'll probably try it, but for 880 calories, I'll have to split it with my bf. Yikes.
2Yeah, I'd probably split it with the bf (mostly likely on top of the whole one he'll probably want). But yikes, the sodium does sounds awful, good thing it's not something I would regularly.
3I stopped eating fast food 2 years ago so I won't be trying this!
4I love the idea - all the spicy flavors sound good - so I'd try and recreate it at home and choose some leaner beef and probably skip the fried onions and put carmelized or fresh. i dont really like creaminess on burgers either - I'm a ketchup girl all the way!!! but pepper jack cheese, jalepenos and beef? sign me up
5I tried a few bites of one that my husband got. It was extremely tasty. It wasn't angry, it didn't even seem very annoyed. I could have eaten the whole thing easily as it was that good but I knew it wasn't a good food choice (that's my WW cult talk).
6That is total beer food!
I'm with Smacks though when it comes to splitting it with someone. That's
just too much food and sodium for me.
7you have to admit that their promotion of this one was pretty good and it has a catchy name. granted i'm not one who's into the jalapeno flavors - i like spicy but not like that - so even if i ate meat, i wouldn't be into this one. i like the thought though - and well i guess we're just living in a time when it's just not fun or marketable to have a boring plain burger on your menu anymore.
8@macgirl: "It wasn't angry, it didn't even seem very annoyed."
9That looks awful... would never try.
10I don't eat food like that, so I'll have to pass on it. Too many calories, too much fat, and just not appealing in the slightest.
11Not angry at all. Tasty, but mild.
12No, I won't be eating this. Does BK make any burger that isn't a caloric nightmare?
13My hubbie tried it, and he liked it. He said it reminded him of the Carl's Jr Western Bacon Cheeseburger.
As for me, I don't eat stuff like that.
14It was on BK's menu in Norway a few months ago. I had it a few times and really liked it. Now we have the V.I.B. Steakhouse Burger (Very Important Burger). It isn't nearly as good as the Angry Burger. I was so disappointed. I'd choose angry over important anytime.
15I've been meaning to try this for a while. Plus, I love the commercial with the farmer torturing the onion into a state of horrible rage.
16it looks disgusting !
17looks yumm! but i keep forgetting to try it.
18I have a definite fast food weakness, and that picture looks good.
19I would take a bite of my hubbys if he got one, but i couldnt eat one by myself.
20I'll try one! I'll make sure to stay in the gym a little longer that day, but it looks and sounds like a tasty burger! I'm proud of everyone who has given up fast food, I can't bring myself to do that! ha ha
21That looks gross.
22I have to say after reading this I had to go out and buy one. It is incredible - this coming from someone who eats really healthily most of the time. I'm also pregnant so this could prove to be dangerous if it becomes a regular indulgence. Best fast food burger ever!!
23Your pics do make it look surprisingly delicious! I would much rather eat this than the original I think.
24i can usually hang with any and all fast food/junk food but whoppers literally make my stomach churn. last time i had a (regular) whopper was over a year ago on a road trip where burger king was the only food place at my half-way mark. i ate three bites and had to throw it away it was disgusting. i think i'll stick with a mcdonalds cheeseburger for my fast food fix.
i even find that picture to be gross. yuck...
25Yes, please! I want to try!
26I would definitely take a bite of this burger if my husband ordered one. I would probably have to order this without jalepenos...my stomach just can't handle them. Too bad they don't sell these as mini burgers.
27that looks absolutely disgusting.. what a waste of calories
28It's fast food. They can't possibly make it spicy enough that I would consider it spicy. As I can generally eat jalapenos straight, adding a few to something that isn't spicy isn't going to work.
29eww, gross.
30My weakness is Taco Bell, not burgers. That looks gross!
31That looks good!! To Bad the waon;t bring it here in Israel - Burger King in Israel is Kisher (no meat and cheese together) at least i have McDonalds which isn't Kosher but they don't have bacon in their burgers....SUCKS!
32My husband really, really wants to try this but I won't let him. We'll go to Cheeburger Cheeburger and he can put his own angry burger together and be happy. I'm aganist BK, since I quit we haven't been friends.
33YUM!
34Sign me up!
are they selling it everywhere?
35i tried it....loved it... and now have a few pounds to work off b/c of it... serious indulgence !!
