i have had dessert wines that i like from time to time but i really do try to stay away from them. my fiance and i actually went to visit my brother and his wife this past weekend and we went
to a few wineries, and we tried a few dessert wines that weren't too bad but i typically stay away from the ones that are THAT sweet
I am not usually a huge fan, but I have been to Bella and actually purchased several bottles of their late harvest zin (as pictured). Delicious with the handcrafted peanut butter-filled
chocolates they serve with it during tasting. I convinced them to sell me some of those, too! Yummmm
@ Insanity- I really enjoy Sherry. I love the sweet creaminess of it. Sometimes I just want something really sweet. Then again I don't really eat dessert, I normally drink it
I drink tokaji. I don't really like the ones with a higher number of puttonyos (the higher the number, the sweeter, with essencia being the sweetest and most expensive). I prefer the
felszaraz ones, which are "half dry." Some are even dry enough to drink with dinner (we had one with Thanksgiving that was excellent).
I love port. I don't drink it in place of red wine, but it's a nice after dinner treat. I have many different types in my collection, but one of my favorites is Trentadue Petite Sirah Port.
It's not too sweet like some ports can be.
Another FAVORITE summertime dessert of mine is to marinate peaches in a Viognier Port, and serve over ice cream. The port tastes kind of peachy so it really accentuates the fruit.

I enjoy dessert wines, but do not have them all the time.
1Everyone once in a while.
2I'll drink some if there is no other option.
3I love 'em, but can only drink them when I'm eating something sweet and desserty. Which is actually quite often.
4Occasionally they're ok, but I really prefer less sweet wines.
5Only sometimes. They can be a little too sweet for me.
6Myeh, I'd rather drink regular wine.
7Once in awhile, but i get a headache from the high sugar content :/
8I enjoy a good glass (or five) of port, and I've often eschewed the whole having dinner in order to have a dessert wine thing.
9@ shoneyjoe- love it.
10I love sweet wines -- everything from Moscato d'Asti to late harvest Mouvedre to off-dry Riesling -- and could have them all the time!

12Yes. I think that's my weakness. I love a good port.
13Port & sherry.... yum! I like my fortified wines.

17My favorite wine in the world is Riesling, so yes, I guess I do like dessert wines

19I don't mind an occasional dessert wine...
