Last time I went out to dim sum with my grandmother, she ordered chicken feet and urged me to take one. While I appreciate the slippery, gelatinous texture of chicken feet every now and then, my sweetheart absolutely refused. "Chickens run around in filth," he said. "I eat with my eyes first, and the sight of a pair wrinkly chicken feet just grosses me out." How do you feel about it?

I'm with Anthony Bourdain, "A little dirt never hurt anyone." Sure it yucks me out but I'd still try it!
1They're surprisingly tasty. Really.
2I've always said I'll try anything once, but I think this is one experience I can do without.
3dudes. chicken feet are delicious! and seriously it's not as though they don't CLEAN the feet before cooking! anyway, a lot of chicken STOCK has plenty of chicken feet in them (for the gelatine) - does that mean you're all swearing off chicken stock too?
4I'm ok with it in stock, I don't have to SEE it!!!
5They are yummy, my grandma always leaves the feet on when making chicken soup. They look really tasty in the pic though. Fried and covered in sauce, like a General Tso's Chicken Feet!
6aside from the fact that this just doesn't seem all that appetizing - i'm a vegetarian, so it's even less desireable. i think that sometimes it's just better to not know what you're eating rather than know and be too afraid to try something because of it's name.
7I will try anything once...except for these.
8Never ever...
9im gonna have to say no to this and the cow urine
10Nope, I am barely comfortable with the breast so forget about the feet...
11I'd give it a try although I'd prefer not to have the filth discussion before taking a bite.
12They are delicious!!! Mmmm. My family and I always order it when we get dim sum.
13Eeeeeeeew srsly??? I know I probably sound ignorant and unworldly, but that is absolutely disgusting!
I wouldn't eat any part of a chicken, but this seems especially nasty. They look like pigeon toes D:
14that dirt argument is just stupid. ummmm pretty sure potatoes and carrots grow IN DIRT. does he not eat those either? since obviously it is impossible to wash dirt off of something.
but, to answer the question, i'll try anything once. if i don't like it, oh well. it's not like i'm gonna die from eating something that doesn't taste good. although i would also draw the line at cow urine. that's just nasty.
15I hate to admit it but when I first glanced at the photo I thought mmm delicious! Then when I realized what they were my tummy started to turn. I just can't get past eating somethings FEET. If I didn't know what it was, say not feet shaped I'd probably give it a go but the second you tell me - ew ew ew. And ew.
16Snarkypants, very good argument. In addition, no one seems to know that chicken feet have a peel on them that's removed before cooking them. So what you would eat never touched any dirt anyway.
I wonder if Boyfriend would eat bone marrow - would it make it more appetising the fact that it never touched ground?
17I've eaten them. They weren't bad, kinda tasty with a fatty gummy texture, but they were very hard to eat (with chopsticks at a dim sum restauarant no less).
As for the dirtiness argument, does he refuse to eat drumsticks and thighs too? They don't just run in it; they sit in it. And I'm fairly sure that they get a good cleaning before they make it to your table.
18With family from the old country the dish doesn't surprise me but it looks a whole lot more appetizing in the image above then when you find it in soup. I can't eat it then.
19Noooooooooooo
20How about an option for no I'm a vegetarian?
21Sounds good
22I would try them, but I probably wouldn't like them that much. I'm pretty picky about my chicken. I generally only enjoy white meat.
23absolutely I would eat them!! give them all a good toe sucking.
24I'd eat them when I go out for dim sum. But it's sooo bad for you...it's all fat, sugar and salt.
25I remember eating pig feet when I was a kid with my mom... and (from what I remember) they were pretty good. So I would try chicken feet too.
26I've never thought to eat them plain, but I've used them to make stock before. I bet they're yummy though...they impart a lot of flavor to stock. And yes, they clean them. Geez, people eat chitterlings and shellfish, which are probably a lot ickier than a chicken foot.
27those are chicken feet! i just scrolled throught the page and thought it was orange chicken.
28I will try just about anything once...so possibly. They look disgusting though.
29Of course. This is dim sum.
30The part that gets me when I go for dim sum with Chinese friends is the spitting out of the toe bones after they've eaten all the sauce, skin and gristly bits off them.
31EW, ew, ew.... I'll stick to my veggies thank you.
32I'd try them. I don't think it's any worse that eating any other part of a chicken but my two favorite foods growing up were crumbed lambs brains and corned tongue so I don't think I am the best judge...
33I was afraid to eat them when I was very young, but at some point I did start eating them and they are good. Now I eat them everytime I go to dim sum.
Dirt =/= germs. Not to mention, the growth of allergies probably has something to do with not being exposed to common unharmful particles due to the need for hygiene. And thus not ever becoming desensitized to it even though it's not harmful. So you get a reaction when you finally are exposed to it.
Not to be crude, but sometimes chocolate stuff can look like poop if you think about it. But if you don't, you'll eat it.
And finally, vegetarians...why are you even posting in this thread? It's not like you would eat these anyway.
34As my parents say, "There is always room for chicken feet!" It's really delicious and when cooked very well, you may forget what you're actually eating. The taste is dependent on the sauce, and the texture isn't as gelatinous as jello or pig snout. Maybe it's spitting the little bones that freaks people out.
35OMG my mom loves these!!!!!!
Hey Yum, since Im guessing youre from the Bay right? You should check out Mings in Palo Alto (if you havent been). Best Chinese evveer!!! Esp. for some Dim Sum!! Its like Chinese fast food gone gourmet, kinda. LOL!
36I have eaten them but like chicken skin, they're just gummy and not tasty; the only good part is the sauce - so I'll take a bowl of the broth/sauce and dunk my eggrolls or pork buns in it.
