Tonight, invite your family to celebrate Mardi Gras with this classic Creole rice dish. Although jambalaya traditionally simmers on the stove for hours, this simple variation takes some help from the store, cutting down the cook time.
It's not short of flavor, though; hot sauce, shrimp, and kielbasa sausage provide depth and deliciousness. To get the recipe now, read more.

I totally forgot today was Mardi Gras. My boyfriend is from the South, and I'm going to make this or maybe red beans and rice as a surprise for dinner.
1This looks yummy! I'm going to make this soon. My parents are from the south and we love to get the red hot sausage that you can only get down there but not in NY where we live. But my parents were there recently and brought some of it back so I will use that sausage instead of the kielbasa. Yumm!
2totally trying this tonight...thanks!!
3Hmmmm never had it.
4I am totally making this in honor of Mardi Gras tonight!
5Modus, do you have a good recipe for red beans and rice?
I forgot about Mardi Gras too, so I don't have anything Mardi Gras-related planned for dinner tonight. I used to like Zataran's jambalaya mix but it is extremely - almost disgustingly - salty so I haven't had it in a long time.
6suzi, no. But I found one that looks good on the food network.

I don't have the hours it takes to make the super authentic kind.
