Bring out the beads and hurricanes, because it's time to celebrate Mardi Gras! Although Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday") is based on Easter and can fall on any Tuesday between Feb. 3 and March 9, this year it happens to be today!
Since New Orleans, LA, is the city most known for its Mardi Gras festivities, I thought I'd quiz your knowledge of fun facts related to NOLA Mardi Gras traditions. Think you know how to celebrate the season? Put your knowledge to the test when you take our quiz!

i guess i really don't know much at all. i remember in french class we would make the cake and always hide a bean in it, but not a toy...interesting.
1ilanac13--in my class, we hid the baby in it but someone almost choked on it. I'm guessing a bean would be a lot safer.
2It's a plastic baby Jesus. (they have warning labels now so that people do not choke.) Although, you would have to be inhaling a whole piece to choke on it. The baby is pretty large.
I love the last question. "allowed" sounds funny. Like you have to have tickets or something to go to a parade.
I got the popeyes question wrong, oh well.
3100% Happy Mardi Gras everyone!
4I hope all you folks in NOLA are having a great time!
52/5, oh well. Happy Mardi Gras!
6!5/5! I was worried I wouldn't do my hometown justice- ha!
dang I wish I was there right now. Though I'd be drunk already and it's only 9 am.
7Not too bad, I only missed the 2nd question. Happy Mardi Gras!!
8I'm just laughing picturing a can of peaches hidden in a King Cake. Fun quiz!
93/5
10HAPPY MARDI GRAS!!!!!!!!!
113/5.. I don't know anything about Mardi Gras, I only learned about the baby in king cake today at lunch when I got a slice in the cafeteria and the lady said there was a plastic baby in it somewhere.
124/5 ehh. I missed the Popeyes question.
13A lot of people don't realize this, but Mardi Gras originated in my town- Mobile, AL in 1703. Here is a link to the history of it if anyone is interested!!! http://www.mobile.org/vis_mardigras_history.php
I highly recommend visiting Mobile for Mardi Gras if it is your first time- New Orleans can be overwhelming. lol
Mardi Gras did originate in Mobile, if it first started in La. Then how come Joe Cain is buried in Mobile and Not NOLA. That would not make any since. This is to all those Northerners that think it started in NOLA.
