They're pretty, but unwieldy. I hated serving drinks in them when I was a waitress, because walking with a full tray of those things was practically begging for a spill.
I didn't realize that spilling a martini was so common. I don't think I ever have but you can bet your buttons I will next time because that's all I'll be thinking about!
If I'm just standing around with friends, I don't notice the spill-happy glass. But if I'm out at a busy club, I'll stick with a trusty beer. Guarenteed consistant alcohol content, and
spill-safe.
Cocktail glasses are a mixed blessing. If they're too big, they get ridiculous, hard to drink from, and hard to hold without grabbing the bowl and warming the drink. Small, they're a delight
- the drink coats the back of your tongue and opens up a wide variety of aromas.
Please call it a cocktail glass - saying it's a martini glass opens the door for anyone to come along, slosh in some noxious looking neon concoction and call it some sort of "martini." No -
martinis are made with gin and vermouth, garnished with an olive or two. Anything else should be *called* something else.
A martini in a martini glass is fine with me. I get irritated when every single drink at a bar is delivered in a martini glass because I am a female. I will complain to get something put in a
tumbler or a more appropriate container.
I remember when the Sex and the City movie came out and my friends and I insisted on having a "girl's night" where we dressed up in cute, fun dresses and would only drink drinks that came in
martini glasses. It was a blast!
What if someone wanted to vote 'I never spill because I am fabulous like the glasses" ? Doesn't apply to me, but still
I'm a fan, but kia's right that it's annoying when every drink comes in a 'martini' glass... especially for the waitress. The bartenders at my work are awful for that!
And shoneyjoe, some of the 'martinis' we serve (at $8 a pop!) are really just big shooters made of Sourpuss, Hpnotiq and other syrupy garbage, ick!
I'm not a fan at all! I can hold my glass upright, but it seems somebody is always spilling. What I REALLY love are those old classic champagne glasses but they have the same problems.
My favorite glasses are large red wine glasses. Elegant shape, no spills and form follows function perfectly!
Martini glasses are great for A cocktail, but if you are going to be doing heavy drinking they definitely become a liability... though ordering a dirty martini in a full pint glass can also
become a liability when the bartender gives you an actual pint glass full of vodka...
I like it when places use an extra large martini glass and fill it halfway, or when they use the small ones and give you the extra drink in the shaker on ice. That method also helps keep the
flavor consistent throughout the drinking process. I don't like it when my drink gets warm and I'm walloped with the flavor of warm alcohol at the end.

Martini glasses really are fabulous.
1they are fabulous, though my fav glass is a champagne flute
2Is it bad that that drink looks delicious and it's only 9am?
3^ It's not just you, I think the orange slice is calling me.

5And no, it's not just you. It looks good!

8I like.
9Like it, though I usually spill some of my drink. All the more reason to get another.

12Who thought this design was a good idea? I love martinis, but only the small glasses. I'll take a huge margarita anyday though!

14i'm not a big fan actually. i feel like no matter what i do i still manage a lot of spillage and that's not a fun thing.

16Weffie, I was looking for that option.

I have no opinion. A glass is a glass.
19I've never thought about this before but I don't like martini glasses. I always spill some and I can't seem to ever hold it right.
20I prefer tumblers over martini glasses, especially if I'm in a crowded setting. A martini glass is fabulous when at a table, though.

22hehe i'm 20, haven't had the pleasure yet.
23I like to use them for margarita's.

25There's nothing quite like an ice cold martini with three olives in a chilled martini glass. I like them with Grey Goose vodka or Plymouth Gin.
26@ shoneyjoe: hear hear! Gin and vermouth, and I can occasionally live with olives. Anything else would be uncivilized (and not a martini!)
27These glasses really are only suitable for martinis. They don't hold enough (safely) for a mixed drink.
28Love martinis. In fact, is it too early for a dirty martini right now?
29Agreed, skigurl, I love champagne flutes. They are my favorite glass.
And agreed shoneyjoe. I hate how everything gets called a martini. Gin and vermouth make a martini, anything else is a cocktail.
