A flute! I'm actually pretty passionate about this. Champagne is my favorite drink and it just doesn't have the same allure when it's not served in a flute.
For the people who don't know what the difference would be...
A flute keeps the carbonation in better and concentrates the flavor so that each sip is a punch in the mouth.
A coupe lets out carbonation and concentrates the taste, but allows one to savor the smell and gives a lighter taste.
I love both a lot. I don't know why, they're just so beautiful! Flutes are harder to spill, but I got a set of coupes for Christmas that I l-o-v-e. I think it's a tie.
I love champagne, but I have a big nose and it makes drinking out of a flute difficult. The bigger bowl of the coupe lets me get closer to the champagne so I can smell it first. Honest to
goodness truth.
I second that danaruth. I have to tip my head all the way back to drink the second half of my champagne from a flute, which hardly makes me feel elegant. Also, I like the story about how the
coupe was modeled after Marie Antoinette's breast, because it's so silly.
We use both. We only have a pair of coupes, so we use those when it's just the two of us. But for a party we serve champagne from flutes. I'd like to have more coupes, but they're hard to
find. And then I'd have to trust other people not to spill.

This soup ends up being a good source of three blood pressure-lowering minerals since the milk adds calcium and the potatoes deliver a dose of potassium, as well as magnesium.
I have always preferred flutes. They feel more elegant.
1**It's coupe, not coup.
a coup, only because i've never drank from one.
2A flute is mush better for champagne, keeps the bubbles and all that science of wine stuff
3I am a very technical!
4Either one, I think they are both very elegant
5mswender, i was thinking the same!
plus, in a coupe, it feels so top-heavy I'm afraid I'm going to spill.
6Flutes hold more, and it's harder to spill them!
