What I hate about making cupcakes is having to scrape and scrub the muffin tin afterwards. Removing the caked on batter hurts my arm and ruins my nails. So I developed a system: I cover the muffin tin tightly with aluminum foil. Next, I slice a hole where the cupcake batter is supposed to go and press the foil into each indentation. I place the cupcake paper liners in the hole and fill with batter. If any of the batter spills it gets on the foil and not on the pan! After the cupcakes or muffins are finished baking & cooling, simply peel off the dirty foil and dispose.

Really? This never bothers me much. To reduce the spills on the muffin tin, I hold the cupcake wrapper in my hand, laddle in the batter directly, and set it in the muffin tray. This way, youre not carrying a heaping spoonful of batter across the bowl, table, and tray. Id rather save the foil, but this is a smart tip.
1that is a really clever idea! i'm always spilling batter onto the muffin tin and then it cooks and gets all hard. I also like crispet1's idea. how did I not think of that??
2It might seem hard and illogical to fill the muffin wrapper and drop it into the pan, but it works out well. You just grasp the muffin wrapper by making the letter C with your hand, balance it with your pinky below the base, fill, and literally drop it into the muffin tin. Works every time!
3Great idea. Only bad thing is...I want a cupcake right now!
4great tip crisp! I would probably end up dropping the muffin cup, but i'll have to give it a try next time!
5I don't know how common this is, but when baking a cake, cdut a circle of foil to fit the bottom of pan (jsut trace bottome of pan on foil and cut out) put a touch of grease on the bottom to hold it down, and then grease and flour yourp an like normal. Not only does it make for easier clean up, but the bottom of the cake looks great! you just peel off the foil, and the cake doesn't even stick to it! oh haha, i dust my pans with cocoa. even for yellow cake, it goes great and adds a little soemthing to the normal choc icing.
6Hmm good tip. I know parchment paper is typically used for that, but it is more expensive than foil!
7My newest muffin pan just got *wrecked*. Because I left the kids' burned blueberry muffins in for a day.
I quit using paper cups because they really dried out my Applesauce Oatmeal Muffins. But then, when I spray the pan (even when I wipe the excess off the top), the oil collects around the rims and burns in...I have to use a toothpick to clean it.
Anyway...I'm thinking about using the foil trick for when I SPRAY the pan! Huh!?
Haha, Thanks!! Great idea!
8good idea
9What a great idea!
10good idea!
11Nice idea yumsugar.
12That is a great idea! I'll have to try it next time. Sometimes when I'm making cupcakes or muffins, I buy the wrappers that stand on their own, then I put them on a foil covered baking sheet. I'm all about super easy clean-up.
13I have never had a problem with cleaning the dried out bits. This seems like way too much effort.
14i love love love this idea yumsugar! brilliant really! thank you!
