In a special ad campaign that gears towards a consumers need for comfort, General Mills has brought back its old cereal box designs. Target shoppers may have noticed that Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, and Trix are sporting retro boxes taken directly from the company's archives.
The promotion has made me nostalgic and I can't help but think of the cereal I enjoyed as a child. While I consumed Cheerios on a regular basis, my absolute favorite was Lucky Charms. How about you reader? What cereal did you devour as a child? Do you still eat it today?

Mango
wheat chex!
1I love these old school designs.
I, too, loved lucky charms (I'd save all the marshmallows for the end). I also loved Golden Grahams, and that box is bring back so many memories that I want to go buy some now.
2i was big into fruity pebbles and cinnamon toast crunch. still sorta am, when i do eat cereal.
3i used to love wheaties and rice krispies if i had to have something that was 'healthy' - but one of my all time favs was lucky charms. it's still up there on my list if i have the craving for something sweet
4Quisp!
5Golden Grahams for sure! They were so yummy sweet and then how the milk went sweet
6Its weird (because it wan't one of the sugary ones) but I used to (and still do) go nuts for Kix! It was a super fav, I think mostly because no matter how long it was in milk it was usually still pretty crunchy. I love Kix!
7*it wasn't
8My mother would make me oatmeal with brown sugar, a pat of butter, and chocolate chips on it. Now I make it for my kid (and I eat whatever he doesn't finish).
9Honeycomb's BIG...yeah, yeah, yeah!
10It's not small...no, no, no!
Honeycombs, Lucky Charms, Fruit Loops, and Cheerios. I still love Cheerios with banana slices.
11coco krispies — hands down — it was my after school snack everyday! YUMMY!
12Just good ol Frosted Flakes for me! Wet or dry
Mmm so sugary.
Still love it too.
13peanut butter crunch was my favorite - and still is.
14I agree with Smacks I loved Kix but I haven't bought it in a long time...and Cinnamon Life!
15I'm not sure if they even make it anymore, but they used to make this cereal called Apple Raisin Crunch. The flakes were really thick and tasted like brown sugar and there were raisins and dried apples in it. It was fantastic, but it was expensive and we only got it if it was on sale.
My second favorite was Cookie Crisp, only because we only got to eat it when we stayed at my aunt's house because my dad refused to buy a breakfast cereal that looked like miniature cookies.
16Oops, it should be Apple Raisin Crisp...geez, it's been too long since I've had that stuff!
17cookie crisp, froot loops, frosted flakes and rice krispies! i would totally eat any of these today
18Quisp!
19all the ones with too much sugar...Frosted Flakes, Lucky Charms, Fruity Pebbles....
20Coco puffs and Lucky Charms - and I would save the marshmallows for last and eat them all at once - mmmmmm
21Cheerios! or Frosted Mini Wheats.
22The Rice Crispy Treat cereal was my favorite snack food. It was like broken up pieces of Rice Crispy Treats. YUM!
I forgot about Honeycombs
I loved Berry Kix too.
23Berry Kix and Frosted Flakes/Frosted Cheerios.
But Frosted Flakes was my ultimate favorite.
24For me it was Lucky Charms (and yes, I was a marshmallow hoarder too) and Honey Nut Cheerios (which I still enjoy). My brother's favorite, though, were Capt'n Crunch, which I always thought tore the roof of my mouth to shreds. Ew.
Once we all got to college and realized that we could have sugar-based cereal for dinner, all hell broke loose. My friends and I would sprinkle lucky charms on soft serve. The thought of that now makes my teeth ache.
25I've had a boring cereal life. Cheerios all the time.
26Either cinnamon Life or Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
27Hear hear for the Kix!!! LOVED that. I also loved me some Crispix. I think it's the crunchiness to it, YUM! I think I have to go buy a box or two of them now....
28I was totally obsessed with Smurf-Berry Crunch. Anyone remember that cereal? I still daydream about the flavor!
On non-Smurf days, it was all Froot Loops.
29Yes, Kitchen, I remember Smurf-Berry Crunch.
Mr. T, Froot Loops, and Frosted Flakes did it for me.
30Kix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cookie Crisp
31honey nut cheerios, apple cinnamon cheerios and reese's puffs
32Frosted Flakes! I still love it, and so do my kids!
33Crispix
34I liked Cocoa Pebbles but absolutely LOVED Grape-Nuts or crushed Wheaties...Wheaties and Grape-Nuts were what my grandparents served at their house so those cereals were a special treat. They just didn't taste the same if Mom bought them. LOL
I still love Grape-Nuts drenched
in half-and-half and sprinkled with sugar and crispy bits of bacon. Cringe if you wish, but it is still one of my favorite guilty pleasures!
35Count Chocula! Golden Grahms, Sugar Crisp, Reese's Pieces, Fruit Loops and lucky charms. yummm
36FROSTED FLAKES!
37Trix, but I don't eat artificially fruity cereals anymore.
38I can't believe I haven't seen any one else mention Apple Jacks! That is my all time favorite cereal!
39Shredded Wheats.
40The cereals mentioned aren't available here and weren't when I was a kid either. My favorite growing up was Cerola Apricot Toasted Muesli which is no longer available...rather boring but it was the fanciest cereal we were allowed to have as kids. We didn't each much junk and this was the closest we got to unhealthy cereal.
41The ones I still love are Corn Pops and Peanut Butter Crunch. BUT for a brief glowing moment in my childhood, there was Pop-Tarts Cereal - they were square shaped and crunchy, in either brown sugar/cinnamon or strawberry flavor. So good but they didn't last!
42I didn't really eat cereal as a child because I didn't like to drink milk. I'm lactose intolerant and I basically just hate the taste of milk. If I did eat cereal it was usually something sweet that I could eat dry like Frosted Flakes or Apple Jacks. I've just started eating cereal on a regular basis with soy milk and I'm in my 20s!
43Trix! Or Frosted Flakes. I'd still eat FF on a rare occasion, but I can't really imagine eating Trix anymore.
44Loved Lucky Charms and whenever I went to the States I'd get Smores cereal! So sugary and yummy.
Oh yeah, I'm a huge fan of mini-wheats to this day.
45Fruit pebbles...until they got soggy. Ha.
46Oh and Fruit Loops.
47OMG, how could I forget about frosted flakes?!
48Quaker Oats "Oh's" and Captain Crunch with Crunchberries!
49We hardly ever had sugared cereals, so the standards were Cheerios, Chex, Grape-Nuts, plain Rice Krispies, things like that... I used to love Oh's!, and Lucky Charms of course were my all-time favorite, but a very rare treat. I also loved the Rice Krispie Treats cereal, back when that existed... so yummy and addicting.
