A recent article in the Wall Street Journal that reviewed online dining reservation applications prompted a discussion I had with PartySugar about the preferred method for booking reservations. If possible, I'll score a reservation online; it's convenient and sites such as OpenTable offer incentive points for doing so. Party, however, always prefers to book over the phone; she believes it's easier to get a reservation that way. I'm curious to know: how do you book your dinner reservations?

I prefer online, but if the reservation I want isn't available online, then I will just pick up the phone and call (plus, when looking online, the phone number is usually posted right there, so it's not really an extra step).
I believe the only in-person reservation I made was for my rehearsal dinner, and that's because I was having a hard time finding a place that would fit 90.
I like to call. I prefer to deal with a real person rather than a machine.
In the past I've always called..
I generally prefer to call, but I totally just made reservations for tonight using Open Table.
I don't think too far in advance so I usually do Goog411 and call.
google the number when i think of it, pick up the phone, call
Online or phone. Usually by phone.
I usually don't make reservations...but if I do I usually call.
phone...
Usually online. I actually made reservations from my phone in the parking lot one time and then walked right in.
I call.

I'm a general manager for a hotel, and we usually have contacts within the area. If a restaurant I'm going to is pretty busy, I usually talk to the owner or manager to see about getting a decent table. We usually all trade back and forth - they get good rates on rooms, I (and my staff) usually get either dinner on the house or a great table on a crowded night (and in my case, it's usually both).
sounds good miznic, I make reservations online, but sometimes the size of the party is too big to accommodate online then I call. opentable is just so easy.
I prefer to call.
I prefer to call because I know that it will be there. I don't really fully trust this whole "technology" thing yet
I like to call because if I want to ask if we can get a specific table or something, I can talk to a real person.
I really like opentable but the places that arent on their site, I call.
LOL @ Fuzzles.
Usually, I call. Hubbie prefers to do it online.
i typically make mine online since i hate having to talk to ppl and figure out times - but i have from time to time called up. Opentable.com is one of my favorite tools
If it's just hubby and me, we prefer to be spontaneous, and just walk in.
For a bigger group I call ahead, to be able to make sure we get the table we want.
I prefer to use opentable. I hate being put on hold!
