I discovered a really gorgeous dish set at Anthropologie last year and I bought several of the pieces to keep for when I'm living on my own. I'm a bit of a collector when it comes to glasses,
dishes, and mugs (Anthro sells great ones, often on sale!) so I have really decorative pieces.
With dishes, the reason is that I like to decorate tables and I think people would get dizzy if I had centerpieces and placecards, and candles, and glass ornaments AND a colorful plate.
I am a true fan of plain white plates and servingware. I feel that it keeps the focus on the food. But I do like to mix and match different styles of white plates and servingware at the table
for contrast.
I prefer plain serving dishes. I want the focus to be on the food. I don't mind the occasional stripe or whatever, but I'm mostly a solid colored girl.
I'm a collector of vintage pyrex and Fire King servingware (cups, bowls, casserole dishes...). My plates are currently a bit plain (just a set of white Corelle dishes from Wal-Mart), but I'd
like to replace them eventually with some Mosser jadite dishes and an old vintage Corelle pattern like Golden Butterfly. The goal of course being to have a retro kitchen.
I have some cute and colorful Iittala bowls, mugs and dishes but I also have a lot of white plates and some basic stuff from Ikea. I like to mix it up.
i plan on getting a great corelle set soon, and those are usually plain with minimal design, which is what i like. however, i do want to add some fabulous servingware to the collection as
well =)
All of my serving pieces are pretty basic so the focus can be on the actual food. I do have a couple of decorative pieces made by my sister that I don't actually use, though.
Same here -- I like white tableware in interesting shapes and sizes. Some of my white pieces have interesting relief designs, too. I like to pair my white pieces with glass pieces to add a
different texture.

I have some really great serving dishes - but I have had them for a while so they are probably not 'fashionable'...

2Yes! That is Fab's plate (the last piggie from the bedazzle bonanza sits on it), but I have the exact same one.
3I like plain everythings. Heh.

8My servingware, for the most part, is pretty simple and classic.
9I prefer plain color but interesting shapes.
10nope - all of mine are rather plain and i kind of like it that way.
11My everyday is classic white rimmed, but I have a number of fun pieces for parties, and those I usually pick up cheap at TJ Maxx or Tuesday Morning.
