A few weeks ago I asked you where you stood on salad bars. Although they're somewhat controversial, I have to admit that I frequent them. I like to mix up the variety, but there are certain standbys that I always get: pepperoncinis, hearts of palm, feta cheese, tuna salad. Salad bar lovers: what fixings do you always get on your salad?

Hearts of palm, and the heart of my Mixt Greens salad crush.
1(not the literal heart; i'm a vegetarian. romance-heart.)
2Croutons! Other favs are: any roasted vegetables, sun dried tomatoes, and garbanzo beans.
3Lots of things...you can't have too many veggies: spinach, Romaine, cucumbers, tomatoes if they look good, red onions, mushrooms, nuts, cold asparagus, alfalfa sprouts, beets, and water chestnuts if they have them. I love salads!
4Mmmm beets, feta, edamame, chick peas, cukes...whatever else looks tasty...
5I don't go to Salad bars but we do make salads often at home. Grilled Chicken, boiled eggs, feta cheese, a little bit of bacon and some carrots usually do it for me! I love spinach leaves over any other kind.
6Spinach, garbanzo beans, jicama, beets, squash, sunflower seeds, boiled egg whites... oh yeah.
7the pasta mixed with veggies, cucumbers, feta, olives, croutons, string beans and their mixed beans thingy. plus the lettuce and some random odds and ends like cheese. my salads are soo not healthy!! lol, i might as well get pizza.
8croutons, feta cheese, & lots of cherry tomatoes
9I love salad bars!
I usually get mixed greens, bacon, cheddar cheese, carrots, tomatoes (sometimes), croutons, cucumbers, sprouts, boiled eggs, red onion, chicken (if they have it, sometimes I don't put meat on it), and either blue cheese or ranch dressing.
Totally fattening but so delicious!!
10Garbanzo beans, peas, kidney beans, corn (but not baby corn - yuck!), red bell peppers, carrots, zucchini shreds (if they've got it), mushrooms, sunflower seeds and pepperoncinis. Croutons and cheese every once in a while. As for dressing, either 1000 island (I know it's horrible for you but I LOVE it!) or balsamic vinaigrette. If you couldn't already tell, I LOVE salad bars!
11when I go to the salad shop by my school I always get mixed greens, goat cheese, jicama, dried cranberries, cucumber, grilled chicken, almonds with red wine vinagerette...
12boiled eggs whites, bacon, sunflower seeds, cheese, carrots, baby corn, oil, (sometimes)croutons, oil
13red peppers, broccoli, tomatoes, tuna or chicken, carrots, cucumber, corn when in season, pumpkin seeds are good, fennel, onions, some kind of cheese usually and always balsamic vinegar and olive oil — delish!
14I love to pile on peas, and beans, and if they have a specialty dressing I will have that too. Beets, I love beets!
15Any dark color, bright color veggies. The more color -- the more vitamins and nutrition. Personally, I like to pile on spinach, red bell peppers, carrots, fresh mushrooms, cucumbers, tomatoes, red cabbage etc. I love my salad to be a bright, vibrant rainbow. Sometimes, I may have some peppercini on the side. No dressing. The taste of raw, fresh veggies is delicious enough for me.
16Kidney beans, beets, peas, cheese, a couple croutons.
If they have it- asparagus, baby corn, sliced tomato, artichoke hearts, eggs, dill pickles.
17Mescaline greens, raw sliced mushrooms, red or yellow peppers, raw broccoli, raw cauliflower, garbanzo beans, a bit of feta, either sunflower seeds or raw almond slivers and a few grape tomatoes.
18cheddar cheese cubes, red bell peppers, cucumber, hard boiled egg halves and sometimes croutons or bacon bits. no dressing for me though!
19Mmm, feta cheese, sometimes a shredded cheddar, carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, croutons, cucumbers, radishes, and usually a fat-free or light dressing (been digging the ranch and french lately). I love salad.
20I love my veggies! I start with mixed greens - lots of dark leaves! Mushrooms, broccoli, cucumber, green/yellow/red sweet peppers, raw cauliflower, baby corn, some sunflower seeds, and a bit of bacon. I love caesar dressing (not too much) or just an olive oil/vinegar mix - and with that I like feta! I also like to get cottage cheese, peaches, strawberries, grapes, pineapple etc. if I have enough room!!
21Start with a bed of spinach, add tomatoes, mushrooms, cucumbers, zucchini, beets, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, croutons. On the side, I get pickles, jalepenos and dressing.
22My two favorite type of salads:
1) Pickled seaweed salad with sesame seeds.
2) Caprese salad with tomato, basil leaves, fresh mozzarella, virgin olive oil, and salt & pepper to taste
23so true Meike, those are delish!
there is a salad lunch place I go to by my office where they chop the salads for you -- HEAVEN!!! its a little expensive adding toppings, so I do: spinach, baked salmon, chick peas, water chestnuts, and broccoli, all chopped up together with their sesame ginger dressing. its so amazing!
24I was just thinking about what I was going to get on my salad today. Although, I'm not going to a salad bar, I'm going to a place called Chop't where you can either pick your ingredients or pick a chef-created salad. Then, they chop it all up with a mezzaluna chopper and mix it with dressing. I get the same thing almost every time: romaine lettuce, fried chicken, goat cheese, peas, tomatoes, croutons, bacon, fresh ground pepper, corn, and balsamic vinaigrette. It's probably the least healthy salad ever, but it's so good!
25Oh, and I garbanzo beans! How could I forget those.
Wow, I get a lot of fix'ns.
26chickpeas, raisins, craisins, sunflower seeds, black olives, cucumber, tomato, and whatever else sounds good that day.
27Salad bars tend to skeeve me out, but if I'm feeling brave, I go for baby spinach with cucumbers, broccoli, tomatoes, carrots, onions, sunflower seeds, a little feta cheese, and Balsamic Vinagrette dressing.
28boiled egg pieces, tomato, onion, carrot straws, little bit of bacon bits
YYUUMMMMM [but fattening]
29Red onions, spinach, pickles, pickles, (did I mention pickles??), hot pepper rings, tomato slices, cucumber, carrot shreds, alfalfa sprouts, red wine vinegar and NO oil!
30Hmmm romaine, cucumbers, croutons, chicken, carrots-I'm pretty basic.
31i'm pretty sure i've never made the exact same salad twice.
32i always start with a spinach base, and then add some combination of red onions, tomato, red bell peppers, cucumber, jalapenos, banana peppers, and the list goes ON
then, depending on whether or not I'm eating protein on the side, I sometimes have beans or egg.
I always have a mix of iceberg and spinach, add some cherry tomatoes, a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar and that's my salad
33I never leave off the chick peas, spinich, and feta
