While we're busy trying to guess where the sixth season of Top Chef will take place, one rumor concerning the reality competition has been confirmed: the infamous Toby Young will be back as a judge.
Earlier today, the British food critic told The Feedbag, "Yup. I’ll be a regular, alternating with the lovely Gail. I can’t blame you for hating me. If I was a viewer I’d much prefer to watch Gail, too."
I've always enjoyed Gail as a judge and found Toby's crazy metaphors to be pretentious and annoying. Still, I will be watching when it debuts next Fall!
How do you feel about Young's return to the show?

I like him, I love Gail, I think he will be a fun alternate.
1I think he mellowed out towards the end of last season and I hope he stays that way.
2I'd rather have only Gail. Not both of them. Toby's pop culture references get on my nerves.
3well he's like the simon cowell of TC - so i think that it's ok to bring him into the mix. as long as it does mean that gail's on the show from time to time
4In the beginning, it felt like he was trying to be a cross between Anthony Bourdain and Simon Cowell, needlessly pithy and forced. Too bad Ted Allen is on Food Network, because I'd love to have him on the show. I don't need snarky, I just want informed, yet entertaining criticism.
5I don't hate him because he's harsh at times, I can't stand him because he's simply not funny. He never seems to give legitimate criticism to the food. Leslie, you're right, he just seems forced.

7I don't like him, I'd consider not watching because of him. I think he's trying to be the Simon Cowell of food, and he's NOT! But my love of Tom will keep me watching!
8Yeah it wasn't the harshness that bothered me but how unfunny he was. Maybe he was trying too hard then and is more comfortable now, but I think they should sub in Bourdain when Gail is unavailable like they did for a few episodes for Tom.
9yeah, i would love it if he were harsh and had good criticisms. but he doesn't. his explanations of flavors are pedestrian at best.
10I hated him - his comments were completely useless and he seemed only interested in squeezing a stupid movie reference into each one.
11Don't care much for Gail, so any replacement to that is fantastic. I kind of liked the over-the-top criticisms...
