Yesterday Restaurant magazine and S. Pellegrino announced its famed list of the world's 50 best restaurants. The list is developed by a large panel of well-regarded international judges consisting of 806 chefs, restaurateurs, food critics, and journalists.
For the fourth year in a row, Ferran Adriá's experimental Spanish restaurant, El Bulli, has been named the best eatery in the world. Coming in at sixth, Thomas Keller's Per Se is the highest-ranking US restaurant.
The most shocking news, however, is that Gordon Ramsay's flagship London establishment, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, which was number 13 on last year's list, is totally absent from this year's. To check out the complete list, read more.

I would kill to eat at El Bulli or Fat Duck. Ironically, it's easier to get a reservation at Alinea, #10, than French Laundry.
1Manresa is #93, which is awesome.
2Fiesta sugar looks like Spain is the place to be!
3This just makes me want to go back to Europe for a while..
4I agree: Spain looks like the place to be!
5I've eaten at #3 and it is scrumptious. Nordic food in a modern way.
6oooh makes me excited that I am moving to Europe!
7Interesting Ramsey is missing from the list when he was 13 last year.

9My boyfriend wants to take me to Fat Duck, but Heston Blumenthal pisses me off and I have no interest in his creations - call me ignorant, uneducated, stupid, or whatever, but his menu just does not appeal. I have tried Hakkasan's little sister, Yauatcha and really like it, so will probably try to go there sometime this year!
10I have also tried number 3, NOMA, which was great. It was a couple of years ago and they had just changed to their spring menu. And it was literally like tasting spring with surprising and interesting combinations and textures. Yum, I should really go there again, as it is only a mile away from my apartement.
11euro-centric. wonder what the criteria to qualify for "world's best" is. i'd have expected some asian representation there.
12poor gordon - this has NOT been his year has it? i'm glad to see that there are several US restaurants on the list - mind you they are all places that aren't on my list of 'must sees' but oh well.
13I like to think that the family restaurant, Cobb and Co., down the road from my house in NZ, which makes fish and chips in a cardboard stagecoach served with a traffic light cocktail in an old jar, aaaaaand has an arcade with Pacman in the corner is pretty awesome.
I might belong on this list, but hey, it's all I can afford.
14Oops, I meant "might not belong", not "might". It definatley doesn't belong.
