During the last season of the Next Food Network Star, many of you thought perky blond Kelsey Nixon had serious star potential and were shocked when she got kicked off the show. But the spunky home chef assured readers she wouldn't be going anywhere when she announced she was getting her own show with Top Chef's Spike Mendelsohn on Food Network spinoff site Food2.
The enthusiastic contestant kept her word. Today, Kelsey & Spike Cook debuted on Food2's website with two episodes: one demo of easy-to-make steak and another featuring breakfast items. Unlike Food Network's other new show, 5 Ingredient Fix, I feel an instant connection with the duo — especially since we've gotten to know them on reality shows past.
They have a fun, lighthearted chemistry that holds my attention. Watch the video below and tell me what you think. Do you like the duo's dynamic? What do you think of the Food2 beta website and its other new shows?

God I hate Spike. And the other ginger guy from that season who looked like him, but without the hat. I have no issue with Kelsey, but her tip on using ziploc bags instead of dishes isn't terribly green.
on the other hand, LOVE Adam Roberts
1I love these two together they are hysterical!
2My first reaction was hunnnhhhh? My second is I can live with it. I'll watch. I love those type of shows. Pairing up is a fun idea and smart.
3Oh wow this should be interesting!
4I had reasonably high hopes when the photo above showed him without his douche hat. No such hopes after watching but 5 seconds of the video.
5well i think that it's great for both of them to have this show - however i think that given the environment, they aren't going to get nearly as much traction as they are looking for.
6Um, yeah ... I don't think that show will take off as expected. Is it me? I'm the only one bored watching this? It seems to follow the standard Food Network 'play book" of cooking show, which has been done to death; boring! I actually prefer the foodie shows on the Travel Channel. I like my food moving from place to place, country to country, or continent to continent; as opposed to the standard "studio kitchen", Hollywood set. Put that food on the move and just maybe I'll be interested in watching their show.
7shoneyjoe- I couldn't agree more
8This was so syrupy I think that if I watch it I will become a diabetic.
9I want to go to there. Both of those looked delicious, and I appreciated Spike just throwing random stuff on the grill. The best reason to use a ziplock bag is not to eliminate dishes, but to use less marinade, while covering the most meat surface area. It also helps prevent cross contamination.
10I kind of liked it. And I would gladly eat those two steaks.
11I have to say I liked their show a lot better than the new show on Food Network, 5 Ingredient Fix. I think they are good together, I like it.
12can anyone tell me when and what station they are on? thanks...
