Definition: Ice Wine

Ice Wine
A type of dessert wine that is made with frozen grapes. The grapes are picked and pressed when frozen and only the grape juice is used in the wine making process. The majority of the water is frozen so the pressed grape juice is highly concentrated resulting in a very sweet wine. Since they have consistent cold weather, the best ice wines come from Germany, Austria, and Canada.

Oooo, a friend of mine bought back a bottle for me when he went to Germany. I'm normally not a big fan of wine, but I loved this one.

every time i come across this wine it is sooo expensive. i may have to splurge one weekend & just get some. it sounds so good. plus i LOVE wine.

i really like this wine - but i've only ever tried it at wine tastings as ice wine is REALLY expensive and i'm just not rich enough to spend that kind of money on alcohol!!! one day maybe Smiling

my parents actually opened up a bottle of an amazing austrian ice wine for my hub and me after we got back from our honeymoon...it was REALLY sweet...def for dessert! Eye-wink
