Food blog Eater recently featured an upcoming course at New York City's Astor Center. The class (which is really more of a social experiment) will examine the myths of gender in the restaurant kitchen. During the event, 10 chefs‚ including Alex Guarnaschelli and Johnny Iuzzini, will cook a five-course meal to be blind taste-tested by Grant Achatz and Gwen Hyman. The judges will try and discern which dishes are made by a man and which ones are made by a woman. While I find the concept behind the class fascinating and am curious to see the final results, I doubt there will be a notable difference between the way a male and female cook. What do you think?

I wish we didn't have these types of gender issues. Most of the great chef that are men, have learn to cook from their mother.
1I'm male, and I learned to cook from my father. My mother's abortive attempts at cooking, if they may be called such, ended in the early 1990s and were atrocious. She's not allowed to do anything having to do with food preparation anymore.
2I learned how to cook from my dad too and I'm a woman. I don't know if there's any real major differences, other than that I tend to clean more as I go than my dad does. Also, I think I multitask a bit more. My husband sometimes helps me cook and he can only do one thing at a time or else he ends up burning things or screwing things up.

4When I cook I like to use a recipe and I plan a main dish, along with some veggie/side dishes. When my boyfriend cooks, he likes to experiment without a recipe and makes only a main dish. I think meals aren't complete without a vegetable or side dish.
5My meals are thought through more than his- I start planning what I'm going to cook each night of the week on Sunday and by noon on the same day I have my cooking plans completely finalized. I can ask him at 5pm what he's making for dinner and he won't know yet.
