I do not feed animals food. I'm not talking about domestic pets, like dogs or cats, I'm talking about wild, untamed animals. Sea gulls on the beach, squirrels in a park, bears in the forest, deers in a meadow - those sort of animals. I prefer not to feed them as they always come back in larger groups wanting more. As cute as they may be, I believe they are best left untouched by humans. How about you: Do you feed animals food?

Yeah, its fun!
usually just squirrels. i can't help it with them . . . they're too cute.
Really? Wont you just attract a million in your yard? Or do you feed them elsewhere?
I voted "sometimes". Just because I fed an eagle who had managed to get his little paw stuck into a garden fence. Poor little (spikey) thing had a very swollen paw once released and had to be taken to the vet. It nibbled on apple bits.
No, I didn't get invaded by cripple eagles afterwards
Just birds. Looking at my garbage can this morning, we feed racoons too. :/ I don't even feed my pets 'real' food. They get home-baked treats, but pretty much only their food.
I'll feed ducks at a pond, but not pidgeons or anything like that. There are enough of those in Chicago, I don't need to attract more
you see, if you feed animals all the time they'll get too used to humans and possibly depend on them for food. some people may get annoyed and hurt the animals.
in the winter if i see a bird looking or food i will put ot some bread crumbs.
I put no but I would help an animal out if needed.
i have on occasion thrown stale bread out into the yard for birds, i try not to feed stray cats bc they will become dependent. once in ocean city MD my cousins and i were feeing seagulls on the balcony of our place and got yelled at by management! we were very young so we didn't realize it was a bad idea.
i feed sagulls fromt he ferry saltine crackers or bread. I also have a bird feeder and a squirrell feeder. i don't keep the feeders full all the time though...otherwise the birdies might become dependent on it (plus the eat me out of hosue and home haha)
We used to feed the ducks at my grandparent's boat dock the stale bread. (As a kid)
Last weekend we were at the MN Zoo and there were people feeding the ducks/geese food from their table. We got down there are realized they were giving them GREASY FRENCH FRIES. I made my disgust VERY clear and then went off on a loud tangent on how they were selfishly killing those poor, unsuspecting animals.
OH! And I feed duckds geese and swans corn feed at the park...
Yup, but only in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. I always arrive with a bag of peanuts for the squirrels. They're cute and friendly and not afraid of people so I don't hafta worry about getting bitten. They'll come take the peanut right out of your hand with their little squirrly paws. Its so cute!
I'll feed the birds an unwanted dinner roll when it comes with a salad I order with my lunch.
An old lady i know feeds these animals EVERYTHING! I'm not joking everything, we go out to restaurants and theres'a big group of us , like 10 or so usually and she'll scrape everyones plate and dump it in a to go box, throw ketchup, mustard, EVERYTHING! Then last year was the funniest ever! that was the topper, it was one of my cousins graduation party so we had a HUGE full sheet cake, well no one really ate any i'd say at the most 3-4 pieces so it sat in the fridge for a while and she asked if we were going to eat it, no we're not you can take some, well she took the whole cake and fed it to "the animals" i dont know what type of critters she has but i'm sure they're all diabetic and insane. if alive! haha. we tell her not too but after i'm sure 50+ years of doing it you won't stop her now.
i can't imagine what her backyard looks like. Ok just thought i'd share
i dont feed animals (except with a birdfeeder) and i REALLY hate it when people feed seagulls at the beach. it attracts a whole flock of them and they poop everywhere and are generally annoying!
i'll throw stale bread or the ends of bread outside for the birds every once in awhile. They usually don't linger around my yard, they just come if I put food out for them.
I love feeding the wild parrots! They're so interesting look and their story is so compelling.
Ducks and squirrels, but the ducks are pretty tame anyway. They hang out at a donut shop and seriously know to use the crosswalk to go back to the park.
Ducks, sometimes.
What a cute question. And yeah, I sometimes feed wild animals food.
It's soooo not ok to feed wild animals. It teaches them not to fear people which sounds like a goo idea until a squirrel jumps into a baby stroller because it sees a piece of bread (this happend in a park near me, the baby was ok but very scratched up); they don't forrage for their own food (which can throw the whole "circle of life" off balance); it can make them sick.
Please don't feed the animals!
I admit it...I feed the animals. I can't help it, I want them to like me haha
Nope, freshman biology made me change my ways when it came to feeding "wild" animals.
yeah i always feel bad for the poor little animals who don't have refrigerators stuffed with food. While most of us do and throw out half of its contents.
I live in what is consider a rural area... and there is wildlife all over. I do have bird feeders and squirrel feeders posted out in the oak tree's. I should point out that I have pecan tree's that they all feed on at will. Plus there is my peach tree that the birds mess with...
But I never hand feed any of them. Oh and there are the wild rabbits that I tend to feed in the spring. Fully realizing that they will end up as a meal for the coyotes we have living in the woods nearby.
just my parents' dogs
Feeding wild animals will only result in killing them. They become dependent on the food and then are no longer able to fend for themselves.
