With a growing emphasis on farm-fresh vegetables, lately I've come across many renditions of lightly dressed salads — and not just as stand-alone items. In restaurants around town, salads have become common add-ons — from the black forest ham, fig jam, and arugula sandwich at Sellers Markets to the pancetta, lettuce, and heirloom tomato pizza at Gialina. At this weekend's Great American Food & Music Festival, Anne Burrell even gushed about how much she loves adding arugula to pizza. How do you feel about salads reinvented as a topping for other dishes?

I sort of like my pizza unhealthy, but I'd give it a try i guess.
me too tlsgirl...
Personally, I can't stand it. If I wanted a salad, I would have ordered one! I prefer my pizza unadorned with froufrou leaves and such.
It better on the side.
Yum, those are my feelings about taco salads. I mean, you can have tacos, with a salad on the side, but honestly a taco salad is just an aberration.
I love it!
There are many things I never thought I would like on pizza: pineapples, potatoes, eggs, indian food...that I now love.
I tried salad on pizza at a restaurant in Abbot Kinney and it was awesome. Don't knock it before you try it. And it really doesn't make it *that* much healthier
I agree Leslie. I thought I would hate salad on pizza since you'd think the lettuce/greens would get all wilted from the heat. But if it's done right, it just works!
Salad on pizza is my No. 1 most favorite thing ever.
I don't mind, so long as it tastes YUM. Pizza Express here in the UK does a pizza with the middle missing, so like a doughnut shape, with the middle filled with salad. http://www.pizzaexpress.com/promotions/leggera.aspx 500 calories!!
I voted undecided because I've never tried pizza like that. I would have to see how it tastes first.
Arugula on pizza is simply amazing. If you haven't had it before, please try it. Get a lovely, unhealthy proscuitto or sausage pizza and arugula (added at the end, not wilty) is insanely good on it. Seriously. Try it.
I love it. It's basically healthier pizza or a more fun salad. Win-win!
love love love!
Hah put rocket on my pizza tonight! I never thought of it before reading Jamie Oliver, but rocket and a drizzle of lemon juice on a pizza is delicious!!
I had the best salad pizza in Connecticut. I wish we had it here in Cali!
It sounds and looks kind of gross. No thanks.
salad pizza is my favorite kind! i know of only 1 place in my area that makes it though...
This is so good! I've always loved spinach on pizza, and since my trip to Italy last year I've been adding arugula to my pizzas.
Don't think of it as salad on your pizza. It's pizza on your salad -- an easy way to eat more vegetables! I've been doing this for awhile; it really gives the pizza a springy/summery taste. Salad pizza is to standard pizza what fresh mex is to traditional mexican.
i've tried it, i dont mind it, but i like my pizza nice and greasy without the healthy touch.
Undecided. I think I wouldn't like it. It seems so messy. But I'll reserve judgment until I try it. Sometimes I think I won't like something and end up loving it.
One of my favorite pizzas is California Pizza Kitchen's Tostada pizza which is basically a salad on top on dough, melted cheese and black beans. Its delicious!
I haven't had it, but it sounds really good right now...at 9:24 in the morning :]
I agree AMP, that is a fantastic pizza and I think CPK does a couple of pizzas with salad on top. I think it probably works best for gourmet pizzas though. At home I love to add arugula to my pizza, it gives it extra flavor and texture, just delicious.
Spinach and red pepper pizza is really good!
I love arugula on thin pizzas. It had a nice peppery crunch and some freshness.
I already add greens to almost everything I eat, so I love it.
