Fried pickles accompanied by a side of ranch dressing are a staple on many a pub's menus, so recently, I decided to give them a try at one of my favorite spots, Barclays. With their salty goodness (think salt and vinegar chips), they complemented my pint of Guinness. However, I wouldn't dare to eat an entire plate of them, it's too much sodium for my taste. Would you give this crunchy and salt-laden pub delicacy a shot?

I love love love pickles. So much so that when I used to ask for extra pickles on my chicken sandwich at Chick Fil A in college the lady would ask me if I was pregnant. Which I was not. I just really like them! So I would definitely try these.
I have been tempted to order them but haven't yet.
Had them and they are awesome!
YES! The first time I ever had one was at Gus' Fried Chicken in Memphis, TN.
SOOOO GOOD!
Ive had these, they are SO good! They are all over the south...
Ohh yea. One of my favorite appetizers!
Once you have them, you will crave them for the rest of your life!
I love pickles! I have always wanted to try them fried but for some reason I never have.
Smileyface, I too LOVE pickles! I always ask for extra, or add them on to sandwiches when they don't usually come with them (the turkey burger at Red Robin, especially). I've had deep-fried pickles, they're pretty good actually! Wasn't sure I'd like the batter but it was surprisingly delicious.
I thought it was the weirdest idea until a friend kinda dared/forced me to try them. And they're DELICIOUS! Who knew?!
Anything fried is good, I'd totally try them! And judging the comments on this topic, it sounds like they're delicious!
i had this for the first time when we went to hooters for my guy friend's birthday and i was like, why have i never heard of this before?!? soo good!
i, for some reason, have never had the chance to order them but i want to!! really bad!!
Bacon wrap mine and I'm sold!
They're really good! I had them with some type of horseradish sauce. Also, they weren't as thickly breaded as the picture.
I love pickles and fried food so I thought I'd LOVE this but I thought it was only ok because the frying make the pickles seem less salty. Maybe it just wasn't properly prepared though. I'd definitely try it again, it wasn't bad at all.
I have had them before, fried dill pickles. I thought it was really good, but then I love pickles.
mmm fried pickles are the best!
I LOVE fried pickles, but those ones in the pic are all wrong!! Those are nasty dollar-cut like they have at Hooters, the batter sucks and they're soggy.
The good ones are sliced lengthwise and they have breadcrumb and dill coating... don't be turned off by those ones above, at a good pub the pickles are usually my favourite appy but I hate the ones at Hooters (along with all their other food lol).
have had, continue to love

they should look more like this
They're really good. They aren't available at too many places around Toronto (that I frequent anyway) so when I am in the States and I see them on the menu, I often order them.
not something i enjoy but my sister always gets deep-fried pickle spears for an appetizer
Big fan of fried anything.
Not a fan of pickled anything.
OOOOOH! I want these right now. :)I think Hooter's has them actually. My best friend brought them up one day and I was like...'what?? fried pickles?". She said they are good.... and she is so picky they just have to be.
I had the fried pickles at Hooters and they were absolutely disgusting.
But since Hooters sucks and can't even do wings well, I will reserve judgement until I try them somewhere else
I used to work at a food manufacturer that made fried pickles and every so often we'd have to test them and we got to take the extras home. They're yummy! I miss them...you can't really buy them in the stores.
Yes, but you have to be careful with them because it's easy to burn your mouth. They retain their heat for a long time b/c of the high water content.
LOVE deep fried pickles! abby's right though-i burn my mouth on them every time. worth it!
when i lived in texas this was normal to see on a restaurant menu. they are really good with thousand island dressing.
LOVE them! Everytime I eat at a local restaurant that has them I order them
I love them with ranch dressing. The chip cut ones aren't as good as the spear cut ones. It's also tradition to burn your mouth on the first bite.
I eat them with ranch dressing but the chip cut ones aren't as good as the spears. It's also tradition to burn your mouth on the first bite.
Pickles - yes, fried pickles - no way.
I was head over heels for fried pickles way before they were popular! Anything fried and dipped in ranch is heaven to me!
fried foods really don't sit well in my belly and i don't like pickles.
The best ones I've ever had are at Sidetracks in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Pure deliciousness.
I've always wondered what these taste like. It's kind of cool because pickles are really juicy yet they still manage to batter and fry them.
Love love love pickles, but I am not a huge deep fried food fan. But I certainly would try them. YumSugar, what was the sauce in the ramekin that accompanied them?
I don't like pickles but I'd try those just because they're deep fried.
It's been too long since I've had these!
My mom hates pickles, but loves them fried. I love pickles and loooooooove fried pickles
I don't eat many deepfried foods, but I sure do love pickles! My university's pub sells these, and this post makes me really wanna try them out next time I go in!
Hooters has the best! The sauce that goes with them... yum!
I have had them before and they are so good
the ones I tried were in strips not slices and not as heavily breaded as pictured... they were good but not something I would order over and over again.
That is so funny that you ask, because I just had deep fried pickles for the first time yesterday. They were awesome!
I LOVE fried pickles and always order them when offered!
Mmmmm.... fried pickles with a cool dill ranch dressing to dip in! Making me hungry!
I don't eat much of anything fried. After a few sips of Guinness, I might have just one bite.
