I'm totally digging scorpstar77's suggestion of these progressive magnetic measuring cups. According to her, the "shape makes them really easy to scoop in a canister or narrow box of ingredients." The bright measurement markings wear off on the black OXO grip ones so you have to get good at telling sizes!

I'm kind of afraid that stuff will get stuck in the adjustable measuring spoons and cups. As good as the seal might be, it seems like it would eventually wear out.
Still it seems like a useful tool so that you aren't always going around looking for the right size.
That's probably why I'd pick the old school metal set.
