I usually make everyone's cake, and then my bestfriend will make me a cake, and one of my parents' friends will buy me a fancy fruit filled cake. But one year, when I was 9, I made an ice
cream cake for my slumber party. It was a hit, but who doesn't like chocolatey cake with m and ms on top, and tons of ice cream in the middle?
I don't think it's sad, if you make a kick ass cake why not! I would rather have ice cream, so I always treat myself to something completely indulgent at Cold Stone.
i've made cakes for friends, but my mom still makes all of us a cake for our birthday (even if it's on an 'observed' date at this point). what cake is that in the photo though; looks
delicious!
it just makes me sad because it makes me think that there is nobody there to bake them a cake. but, i do agree with bluepuppy, if you make a kick@ss cake, why not make your own?
it just reminds me of a friend's roommate. she bought/made her own cake every year because she didn't have any friends. that made me sad. but then i found out she was a backstabbing biotch,
so i stopped feeling bad for her.
My friend thinks it's ridiculous that I make my own cake every year but I love baking. I love getting creative with cakes and my birthday is just an excuse to do something fun. This year I'm
making myself a Nessie cake (Last year was panda cupcakes).
It's not sad, my baking kicks ass, especially my layered vanilla cakes w/ ganace. I know exactly what goes in it, and I'm not worried about nasty Crisco frosting.
i really hate to make a big deal about things - so yes i have made one for myself in the past but i'm not really one to even celebrate anymore - so it's been a while
today's actually my birthday - and i'm DEFINITELY not having a cake.
I don't usually have a cake for my birthday anymore, but when I was growing up, my dad either baked one or we had a family friend of ours who runs a bakery make it. I've baked birthday cakes
for other people though. I baked a cake for my dad once and he really liked it. I also baked a birthday cake for my mom one time...at the time, she was on a diet so I found a recipe for a low
calorie cake that she could actually eat.
Not a big cake fan. I would make my own, but obviously I'd like someone else to do it, Lol. But I can celebrate without cake too. As long as there is lots of wine or champagne! haha
I do think I make fabulous cakes and cookies, but I've only made mine twice, once because I wasn't sure if anyone had time and I didn't want to be a burden (my roommate was disappointed, she
liked to bake, too), and the other was when I lived with my boyfriend and a male roommate - to their credit, they went on about my ice cream pound cake like it was made of gold.
Ya know, I should do this! I me. I'll probably make cupcakes so that I can freeze away in
portion sizes because if I don't I will surrrre be in T-R-O-U-B-L-E!
Awwww Even the dishwasher person should have some birthday cake!-- I'll share one of my
cupcakes with ya!

This subject has me reminiscing. We'd get a card and whatever kind of cake we wanted Mom to bake for our birthday. Birthdays were never a big deal in our house (now that's kind of sad!). But,
I usually enjoy celebrating other peoples'.
I love making my own cake and usually pick out a new recipe months ahead of time. This year it's going to be cheesecake stuffed dark chocolate!! Mmmmmm...can't wait for the pre-birthday trial
run!!

This soup ends up being a good source of three blood pressure-lowering minerals since the milk adds calcium and the potatoes deliver a dose of potassium, as well as magnesium.
people who make their own birthday cakes make me sad.
1I always make my own (and everyone elses) birthday cake. I don't think it's sad. If I don't make it, who will?

15I usually make cupcakes for myself, and my boyfriend gets a full cake.
I did buy myself a birthday cake for my 21st, as I think before then, the last I'd been allowed to have my own was when I was 5.
16I like my cakes and baking is one of my favorite things, so I don't mind making them. I don't think it's sad.
17Not a big cake fan. I would make my own, but obviously I'd like someone else to do it, Lol. But I can celebrate without cake too. As long as there is lots of wine or champagne! haha
18I love baking and I bake my own birthday cake since I've moved away from home. I don't eat it alone though, that would be sad.
19I prefer to make myself a batch of cupcakes before and after my birthday. My mom makes my cake for me still
