Well, the next round of chefs competed this week on Top Chef Masters. It was interesting to see another set of professionals, but I'm still not sure how I feel about the host, Kelly Choi. What do you think of her? To discuss that and much more, read more.
- So, after a couple of episodes, has Choi grown on you?
- Is the Frenchman, Ludo, hot or what?
- Do the masters not understand the time constraints?
- Why is there always that one chef who forgets something major?
- When Ludo was talking about cooking the pig's ears didn't he sound like Stefan?! "If you want to be the master, you need to know about food. I know how to cook the pig ear. I know cook the tripe, the tongue, the heart."
- Does Wilo's accent remind you of Ingrid Hoffmann from the Food Network?
- Ears, heart, stomach, tongue: which one are you most inclined to eat?
- Do you know how to use a pressure cooker?
- How do you feel about the judges? Gail? James? Jay?
- Could Bayless go all the way?

1. Nope - i still don't like her that much
12. if he weren't so cocky then i'd think so
3. apparently not -and i think that they are used to telling people to go at their pace rather than at someone else's
4. if they were all perfect then what kind of drama would there be on the show?
5. 100% that's actually what i was thinking about during the show - the comparisons
6. i never thought about that - but looking back - you're right!
7. thankfully i'm a vegetarian so i don't have to make that choice!
8. i do - but i haven't really ever has the luxury/chance to use one
9. i don't really care for the way that they critique. it's not very 'top chef' ya know? i feel like they should have had the other judges since this really doesn't feel like TC - it feels more like 'chopped' on the food network
10. I think so. he has this ease and confidence and he has the skill to back it all up
1. well she ate in this episode at least!
2. at first i liked him but then he was too conceited.
3. not that they don't understand them but they are just unprepared for them! they are too used to working at their own pace
4. its good for the drama
5. i actually thought the same thing about stefan too. stefan grew on me as that season went on, maybe ludo would've too if he had stuck around
6. o i'm unfamiliar with that!
7. ugh none of the above. though my mother said she ate tongue when she was younger and liked it before she knew what it was... so maybe that
8. nope. it'd prob be a disaster
9. they are ok but they are nothing compared to the top chef judges! but i also think its totally different cause they are critics critquing established and well known chefs
10. maybe! i liked him, but i also like hubert keller. and of course there are still 3 more weeks to go
21. She's ok..
32. Didn't like his attitude
3. I guess they need more time to adjust
4. makes it more entertaining...?
5.yeah he did!
6.Didn't think about at the time.
7.I love tacos de Lengua (Tongue)...they are my favorite!!! Yum! And I eat menudo once in a while, though i don't love stomach meat that much, i mostly eat the stock and hominy
8. No.
9. They're alright. But agree with the previous comment i miss the original Top Chef judges.
10. I am rooting for him. My mom and I love his PBS show.
1. No, I don't like her. After watching "Masters" I realized how much I liked Padma. She actually knows food. Notice how Kelly never gives an opinion about the food? Well, they don't show it. I think they should have chosen someone who is familiar with the food.
42. Hot, Yes. I agree with Zacatecanita, bad attitude.
3. This is not how they normally cook. I think they understand it, its just difficult. If they were all done well before the time went off, it wouldn't be as entertaining. Or maybe they are and just dont show it.
4. Not sure, sometimes I think it is made up.
5. Yep!
6. Didn't notice.
7. I would loooove to try Rick's taco's, so I would have to say tounge.
8. No
9. I like the judges for the most part.
10. I hope so! Being from Chicago i'm rooting for him.
That's a lot of questions - not so much a fan of Choi, I'll take tongue, judges are fine, Ludo is too arrogant and I'm happily married, don't matter to me who wins. The show could be better, but I'm still watching.
Like the Wilo and his accent, yes I do.
5i almost think like bayless had it too easy. tongue tacos? that's so ordinary!
6It's funny, because I've known Ludo from his days back at L'Orangerie and Bastide, and I've never really been a fan of reality-style TV, so I always thought people's claims that it's all in the editing were BS. However, I am a total convert to these claims after seeing how badly Ludo came off. The guy is pretty hilarious in person and really down-to-earth and complimentary to other chefs when you talk to him. He does LOVE to swear though. I was pretty amused by the whole thing, and I'm going to have to bust his chops the next time I see him and ask if he can give me some attitude.
7i don't want to not like kelly choi but there's just something about her that irritates me.
8I dont like Kelly Choi, boring host and come one she is so skinny- does she actually eat?
I like Bayless alot, but it really seemed like he had everything in his favor....
I am so excited for John Besh on next week!!!!
9It does seem bizarre to me that they choose a woman that's even skinnier than Padma. Kelly does seems nice, but cmon, where's the personality?!
10for those of you in the manhattan, kelly choi hosts a couple of shows on nyctv--the food show is utterly pointless, consisting of her taking nibbles of food here and there after some slightly awkward interaction with local restaurant and food celebs. which begs the question...how and why was she ever chosen.
she clearly has a mouth and can EAT food...but as for knowing it, knowing how to cook, or possessing any degree of knowledge let alone mastery in the culinary arts, i think it's pretty clear-if you listen to her (lack of) commentary.
agreed--that by comparison, padma's the perfect host.
