With America's birthday a little over a week away, it's time to start seriously thinking about what you are doing for the 4th of July. Whether you are having a small lunch for your family, or a huge all day barbeque for everyone you know, use my party plan for inspiration and ideas on what to cook, how to decorate, and everything else in between. If you are hosting an event, it's about time you get the invitation sent. To see a play-by-play of the invitation I made - with a flag shape and patriotic colors - all you have to do is read more
To assemble a similar invitation you will need the following materials:
- red, white, and blue cardstock
- scissors
- glue
- red, white, and blue ribbon
- a ruler
- a pencil
- a computer and printer
To make a similar invitation:
- Start by creating a new document on Microsoft word. Detail the information of the party. I used the font Chalkboard Bold in size 14 and wrote a cheesey little poem. Here's what it said
It’s time to let your stars and stripes fly
In a celebration of the 4th of July!

I changed the font color to dark blue and added stars to outline the text. I filled the stars with red ink.
- Print out a test copy of the information and have someone proof read it for grammatical errors. Once satisfied with the text, print out on white cardstock.
- Cut the cardstock down to size and set aside.
- Cut three strips, one each of the red, white, and blue cardstock in equal sizes about 1.25 inches.
- Glue the strips to the back of the invite.
- With the length of the back of the invitation as your guide, cut 2 pieces of each color of the ribbon so it is of equal size to the invite.
- Glue the ribbon to the back of the invite, putting blue and white ribbon on the red cardstock, red and blue ribbon on the white cardstock, and white and red ribbon on the blue cardstock. Voila! The invitation is now done. Send in white envelopes addressed in dark blue ink.
