I've watched every episode so far and I can't help but wonder about it. The Food Network really couldn't find any better finalists? These people are horrible!

They seem to look for characters, not chefs and/or cooks.

It seems like Food Network has gone somewhat downhill in the past few years. Most of the truly talented chefs are gone, with the exception of Bobby Flay. And I feel bad for him, they make him do the dumbest things. He should move over to the Travel Channel with Anthony Bourdain and Mario Batali.

i used to make sure that i tuned in to watch this - but to be honest, after seeing the results of the winner - aside from Guy - i'm not really overly excited about anyone - so i haven't even paid even a second of attention to this year.

I enjoy it and you do need personality to be on TV and I don't think they're all that bad. C'mon it's a reality show, don't expect too much or you'll be VERY disappointed. Besides I'm making garlic bread for my burgers tonight, thanks to Michael. (I think that's who made it).

While I would agree with most of these comments - as in, I kind of shake my head at the contestants for the most part - I've watched Chefography enough to see Bobby, Giada and others during their early days on TV and they weren't that great either. I think it's a rarity to find someone who has the cooking skill, personality and ideas to carry a show without a lot of practice.

I agree with mom2ross, it seems like they're picking personalities over people who can cook. But I do watch the show religiously, it's one of the few shows both my husband and I can watch together since he hates tv. I'm rooting for Melissa, the stay at home Mom, because I'm one too!

The show is already over, The winner will be announced today June 30, 2009, in NYC at the NASFT Fancy Food Show.

I'm not at the FFS this year so if anybody finds out who won, please post.

I've never been drawn to this show.

I think it is funny that so many folks think the talent should be more around cooking than personality & presentation. If the food Network had a bunch of shows that were technical cooking centric, they would be so boring no one would watch. I think this show does a good job in capturing what it would take to be a TV network personality. They ended up with the two best folks for it & I believe ultimately selected correctly. Learning how to cook good enough to present on TVC is easy compared to learning how to present on TV. Ask anyone who has attempted a computer Software demo in front of an audience. Knowing the Software is just half the battle. Facing the customers & being interesting and compelling is the other half.
