On June 26, 1981 one of the world's craziest coupon-clipping excursion occurred. Virginia Campbell of Mountain Home, Idaho is reported to have purchased $24,460 worth of groceries for only 67 cents! I don't know what's more impressive, the fact that she got it for practically free, or the fact that she needed $24,460 worth of groceries! Either way it got me wondering, do you use coupons when grocery shopping?

I used a coupon yesterday. The store had a special - buy 3 boxes of Cheerios for 3/$5 and get a free gallon of milk. I happened to have a coupon for $1 off 2 boxes of Cheerios. When it was all said and done I bought 3 boxes of cereal and milk for only $4!!! That is a week worth of breakfast for my kids for only $4. I love it!
1I try to all the time, but sometimes I forget my little book. The problem is they never have coupons for fresh produce, meats, NONprocessed stuff.
I can use them on household stuff, though.
2I do when the coupons are for larger amounts ($1+) and mostly on beauty type products.
3I always seem to forget them! But I try to.
4I use coupons whenever I can, but I don't purchase things just because I have a coupon. Although it is fun to try out the new products when you can save money.
5I do when I remember.
6Good point, Jen.
7I never see coupons anywhere anymore, but even if they were still readily available I still wouldn't use them. Cutting them, keeping them, and using them just isn't my thing.
8I have a coupons folder but I always forget to grab the coupons before I walk out the door.
Most of the coupons in the folder are expired by now I'm sure. But every once in awhile, I'll remember and break them out.
9I agree with Jen. The only coupons I usually see are for junk food and things that I don't eat. My grocery store (and most, I think) offer a special card that acts like a coupon, though, which comes in handy.
10Well I only use the ones that some brands give you on the supermarket, like for the Van's organic waffles they always give me coupons and also for the smart balance products.
11Oh, most def, especially when you're a single parent on a tight budget.
12I am always using coupons or purchase sale items. I plan my weekly meal plan around what is on sale and what I have coupons for. It helps with ideas and it saves money. Most of the coupons I use come from grocery store circulars and they always have things that are healthy.
13usually. my mom is training me to do so. she always hands me envelopes full of coupons for me to use. and regarding the story, how is that even possible? most coupons are usually something like $.70 off two boxes of crackers or something.
14I generally don't use coupons because most of the time, they're for a product I can get cheaper in a different brand, or even generic. I also try to fill my diet with "fresher" foods, (although I'm addicted to salty snacks. yum!), and I've NEVER seen a coupon for anything that didn't come in a jar or a box.
15I cut coupons on Sunday. It's like a game. Our grocery stores show the amount saved and the percent of the bill you've saved. The highest percent that I've saved is 40% off one bill!
Usually it's anywhere from 15-21%.
16sometimes,if i remember. i usually forget to use them though.
17I'm with rbex. My grocery store gives me a special card that gets scanned every time I make a purchase. Each purchase counts toward points for coupons. Some of the coupons are for items that I use, others are not. But my store also gives me monthly coupons for like $10 off a purchase of $40 or more. So that's nice. I'm also trying to work out when I can make it to the grocery store to take advantage of their free peanut butter coupon!! I have pb&j all the time for lunch.
18Nope.
19It is time consuming to cut out coupons. Also, looking through the coupon books makes you think you need more stuff than you actually do.
20Yeah, I like to use them for dry cleaning, beauty/health products and household items. Plus they usually have them for things like yogurt and milk, plus my grocery store doubles any coupon under $1.
21Yes i sure do! Ralph's doubles coupons too it's GREAT!
22I save so much even the checkers are impressed!
I don't go searching for coupons. But, I occaisonally get them at the store or through other ways and I'll use them.
23Sometimes, but I don't always find coupons for the types of foods I buy.
24i always forget to clip em or save the ones they give u after your sale.
i wish i was thrifty I've never learned to save money. Never spoil your children they'll turn into stuck up spoiled adults and they'll manipulate u into keeping them spoiled.
So yeah teach your kids to clip coupons and stuff yah!
25i like to use them when i remember.
26I love coupons not only for grocery shopping but when I shop online. Sites like retailmenot, coupon cabin, and http://www.3tailer.com/coupons have saved me tons!
